I'm an OSP newbie and have been lurking for awhile. Compared to other online forums (like Nikonians.org), I find it cumbersome that here:

1. Each user's post takes up half my screen! I'm displaying at 1280x1024. Can't the UI be pared down? Why does the left column under the user's photo need to be so long? Sometimes, signatures are longer than posts.

2. Why are "+1" posts tolerated? They clog the forums and result in tons of useless scrolling.

I am finding OSP to be an invaluable resource, but get frustrated that so much screen real estate is taken up with unnecessary and/or empty space.

Did you try the different skins? IPB is what it is.

#1 change the option on the bottom left of the screen to OSP - full

well, this isn't one of those "down-to-business" all hard core forums. we like being ourselves and friendly, and the +1s are a great show of support and friendship a lot of the time. sometimes, they're just funny. (such as if someone +1'd this entry, LOL, i DARE someone!)

as fars as the amount of room each entry takes, i assume that's because of our profiles on the left often being much longer than the entries themselves, and i don't mind that one bit. having the profile info right there helps me to learn who people are. and i think that's important since this is more of a community than an encyclopedia. the people are most important!!

so, sorry dude, but i like osp as is. it's not for everyone, that's for sure.

Wow! You guys are fast with the replies. Sorry if my tone came off a little harsh. Didn't mean for that to happen. And don't get me wrong, I love it here... I was just wondering why it looks the way it does.

I hope my first post was a bit instructive on that - you can change the skin of the forum in the lower left. It should say OSP. Change it to OSP Full, OSP Black, etc. and see what you like. As far as why, well it's an Invision Power Board and they basically all look this way unless you skin them differently. If you know of a great IPB skin that would make the forum look the way you want, maybe you can post it here and have DJ take a look to see if we should add it.

Yea... the different skins might help out and if you prefer you can turn all that stuff off in your Board Settings under your "My Controls" link... so that might help too. Glad you're here! Rock on!

Thanks for all the help guys. I was just looking at the Lo-Fi version... which I LOVE!!! Crazy, I know. But it seems I can't reply from within Lo-Fi. I'll play with the skins and prefs.
