Looking for a little guidance here. I'm 23 years old. I just launched my own wedding photography business. (www.travisflynnphotography.com) I worked for a couple different photography companies last summer. I've been shooting for about 4 years. I live and work in southern Connecticut. Things are moving slowly, but I do have my company's first wedding scheduled for May 19th-- lovely couple. I'm aiming at the high end market. I plan to find weddings through respond.com, bridal shows, and a little creative marketing. Does this sound like a decent route to take?
I am going to try to write (or at least start to write) a business plan this week so that I can apply for a small business loan, because I need more money for my business. And I am also looking for a job in photography with regular hours-- the best, I think, would be working for an established wedding photography company 30-40 hours a week, doing office work, editing, rating, album design, organizing, etc, until my business matures to the point where it can sustain me (1 or 2 years). I would think that there is a need for someone like me in that capacity, but I've tried a lot of local photography companies, and none seem interested.
Any ideas? Anyone know a NYC/ southern CT photography company that could use help? (I tried to find a photographer search on here where I can filter by state-- that would be AMAZINGLY helpful for networking on here, but I couldn't find it.) I would appreciate any kind of advice. Post and/or email: travis@travisflynnphotography.com. Thanks.
