LR noob here

When exporting jpg's from LR (shot as raw) I know how to do a rename. However, as in bridge, I want to preserve the original filename. This helps a lot if you want to return to the original and do some more work. Is there a way?

I don't rename during the exporting process - it's too confusing for me.

When in library view, just hit f2 and it will go to the rename dialogue (you may have to select all of the photos first).

Then, when you export, make sure that the naming section is set to just "filename" instead of the zillion other options it has.

Thanks for that Karen. I am more conncerned about preserving the original filename with the new one when I do a rename. I don't want to do this in bridge unless I have to. How do you (anyone) do the renaming?

What do you mean "preserving the original filename with the new one"? Give me an example.

There are two ways to rename your files in LR - while using the Rename funtion (F2) or during the export process. I use the rename function so that it doesn't change for each export I do.
