Hey guys!

The Heart Gallery is a non-profit organization that photographs adoptable foster children and displays the images in museums, galleries, office buildings, etc... in hopes of finding permanent homes for these wonderful children.

I just got off the phone with the lovely woman in charge of the Heart Gallery for the entire Southeast. It's time to update photos and there are some new states participating this year, woohoo!

If you live in Mississippi or close enough to travel there you are VERY MUCH NEEDED. Because of the massive amount of hurricaine Katrina victims who were left parentless there's an ENORMOUS need and only two photographers volunteering in the entire state.

Photographers are also needed in Alabama, Louisiana, and Arkansas where many of the Katrina victims were relocated to. If you live in these states you are VERY MUCH needed!! Anyone else in the southeast wishing to volunteer can contact me too.

If you're interested please send me an email with "Heart Gallery Volunteer" as the subject. List your phone number, email address, name, company name, website address, and a brief bio (this information will be used for press releases). My email address is melodyhood @ gmail dot com.

If you have any questions feel free to post them!!

Thanks guys!
Melody
Bumping for the day crowd. Is there no one in any of those states who wants to volunteer? sad.gif

Hey Hassel! It's the same, it's through www.giftforachild.com - headed by Rene Gunn. I spoke with her last night & they definitely need volunteers everywhere. If you'd like to volunteer to photograph some kids this year please shoot me an email & I'll get you added to the list! Thanks!

I'm on Rene's list, but I've had scheduling conflicts with most of the opportunities she's sent me. It's tough because we schedule things so far in advance with clients.

It was at Macon State College. I was able to photograph 5 children and some of the photographers as they worked with other children. It was a great experience.

Do you know what areas of Arkansas are in need? I am interested, but I have very little ability to travel due to work commitment-- I have a feeling that most of the refugees that made it into my area (NWA) are mostly intact families.

Dana - send me your contact info - NC is very disorganized from what I gather but I'll send in your info - I have a feeling they'll be joining Gift for a Child's Heart Gallery program before too much longer.

A lot of times they'll have the foster parents or the caseworkers bring the kids to you if you're willing to photograph them and can't travel. Just send me an email with the areas you don't mind covering & I'll send it in.

Thanks SOOOOO much guys!

I've spread the word locally on a local forum (with your permission), you should be getting some more LA volunteers soon. Thanks for taking the initiative with this project!

I'm in Houston and we have/had a great deal of the Katrina folks here so if you need anyone in this area I'm interested and available.
