I never dreamed this would be an issue but it is. I have a new MBP and an ext USB Hard Drive full of RAW files, from this weekend, and I wanted to simply transfer them to my PC machine (clear my MBP for more files).

Does anyone know a good way to do this or a place I could read about how to do this? So far I have not been successful with simply plugging the ext HD into the PC machine and I haven't been able to xfer files while connected to my home network. I've searched and searched and I'm stumped.

Thanks!

You rock Chris. Sounds perfect. I'll give it a spin.

I simply just drag and drop onto my external drive and it works fine. What isn't working for you?

Normally, I'd prep the drive using the PC and format it in FAT32. Then, connect that drive to the Mac and it should mount. Your files can then be dropped right in.

I figured it was the Fat32 thing, but I can't figure out how to make Vista format with Fat32 instead of NTFS. The rest of the story, I'll sheepishly add for FYI, is my external drive worked fine on the Mac, but hooked to the PC, it needed an external pwr supply. Took me an afternoon to figure that out. Things that make you go hmmm....Duh.

Thanks all!

FYI: Andy was right. I just didn't realize there's a limitation on the size of the disk. Once I partitioned my 100G hard drive up in windows (3 partitions), I could format with FAT32 and the files are accessible. Cool.

Macdrive is a cool program, but I could never get it to accept my paid registration number so the company is giving me my money back. Just as well, as I don't mind smaller partitions on the portable drives.

Cheers
