I shot my first wedding on Sunday. It was held at a small beach resort and was a small wedding.. perfect for my first wedding.

I am so in awe by everyone here.. but I wanted to post a few that I've proofed so far and get your thoughts and CC on...

Thanks for looking!!

P.S. The Father of the Bride would not take his sunglasses off. Bummer huh? Bride was fine with it... but I wish he would have taken them off for the formal portraits.

I think you did a nice job with the lighting on those. Beach shots can be tough. It is a shame that that he left his glasses on, but if the bride was ok with it, then that's what matters.

Your exposures are pretty much right on. I would like to see you take some risks with your composition. Maybe shoot from under and overhead of your subject just to mix it up.

Good job on the exposures. It looks like it was a tough shooting situation with that harsh sunlight. Good job with the fill flash.

p.s. I shoot with a D50 as well. yay for us.

I think you did a great job, too!

Do the skin tones look orange-y to anyone else? I think I'd play around with those a bit and see if you can take out some of the orange tint. Did you add saturation - that could have caused it?

Hope
Congrats on your first wedding! smile.gif I think you did great. The first and fourth pictures are my favorite. Some thoughts...

Keep an eye out for distracting elements in your pictures, like the roof of the gazebo in No. 5 and No. 6. You can crop that out pretty easily.

Rule of Thirds! I know it's easy to forget when in you're in the middle of the action, but it can really help keep you from just shooting the "easy shots" that are not visually stimulating.

Like someone above said, another way to mix things up is to shoot from above or below or from a creative angle. Don't be afraid to crawl on the floor or break out a folding chair for a shot.

Weddings tend to look very similar to one another, and thus you have to work extra hard to make YOUR weddings stand out from the rest. So when you're faced with something weird and different, say, the FOB who wouldn't take his sunglasses off -- take advantage of that. After the ceremony, encourege him to make a goofy James Bond face or get a cool picture of him looking down at his daughter through the reflection in his glasses.

I want to see more real emotion and small, unposed things that would have otherwise gone unnoticed had you and your camera not been there.

When you're shooting in bright sun, try underexposing the background and using fill flash to get rid of the harsh shadows. smile.gif I think there's a recent thread about that here on the Shooting Tips & Techniques forum.

I hope this helps. smile.gif

Thanks everyone for the feedback and Hope, I appreciate your suggestions and will definately read the thread you suggested.

I do have lots more photos to proof and will share more of the unposed shots when I'm finished proofing. smile.gif
