I don't have any idea what the difference is...anybody know? Is it worth the $500 extra to upgrade?

The only reason it's worth it is if you play a lot of graphic intensive games.

Or if you intend to use Aperture.

If you're planning on using Aperture the X1600 is considered a better value than the 7300GT, but an upgrade from the stock card is considered a must.
