Full Version: A special "thank you" to Kevin Swan

I wanted to take a few minutes to thank someone who took the time to coach, mentor and advise me on being successful in this business. When I first thought about going into this area of photography I decided to try and learn from the best. I remember seeing DJ’s website for the first time and I was hooked. However, the chances of me learning from DJ were slim to none especially since he’s in OC and I’m in AC (all corn).

To make a long story short, I found Kevin Swan and decided to try and contact him. Maybe he could give me a couple of pointers, steer me in the right direction. Not only did Kevin offer me some pointers, Kevin suggested I accompany him on his next wedding. I about died when he said “don’t forget your camera”! w00t.gif

I shot several more weddings with Kevin while carefully digesting every bit of knowledge and experience he graciously offered me. If there is someone who resembles selflessness it is Kevin Swan. Kevin has personally taught me many things about photography, processing, album design, Mac’s, and the list goes on. All from one phone call. Kevin is one of the most generous men I have met. He reminds me a lot of the unselfish personalities of DJ, Mike Colón, [b], Jessica Strickland, Jessica Claire, and so many more that are on this forum. Thank you all.

So Kevin, thank you! I appreciate the time you took out of your schedule to show me the ropes. My business is growing daily and I owe much of it to you. Thanks again Kevin.

Lee,

Thanks for the post, but you're succeeding because of your personality and your genuine people skills (and charming good looks, of course).

BTW, if you recall, it was DJ who suggested you contact me, which I thought was way cool. So, thanks, DJ! I'm excited to see your business grow, man. Keep it right on up!

What a great story! I'd love that kind of mentoring!

I looked at your avatar quickly and thought it was Jeff Probst from Survivor. wink.gif

This is awesome! The abundance mentality and the power of sharing knowledge and networks is so evident by Lee's post!

I'm so stoked to see the difference Kevin (New School) and the rest of you are making in the industry by sharing!

I get so excited when I read this stuff!
