I know all this stuff works in Photoshop. What about Lightroom?

Lightroom is not made for individual image editing so you'll still need Photoshop.

Finally, someone tells me this. I kept asking - Lightroom or CS3? Thank you!

What about your Brilliant effects? Can those be used in Lightroom?
Lloyd
Yeah, you'd likely want both photoshop and lightroom together. Though since I've gotten lightroom, I don't feel the need to upgrade from CS2 to CS3.

I am really liking lightroom. The last wedding I edited I never opened photoshop CS2 once. Not once! And I did a lot of blemish removal too. It's unreal that you can now do spot cloning/healing on RAW files now!

The brilliant presets are for Adobe Camera Raw (bridge). I don't know if they'll work with Lightroom though, but I wouldn't be surprised if a Brilliant! lightroom version comes out sometime.

SIE allows you to edit "selected items in Bridge", but what about using "selected items in LR"?
Nathan Rodger
Awesome Q David (m) - I'm more concerned about the fact that SIE looks berko in CS3.... but hey - that'll be fixed yeah... Otherwise works a treat.

Yes it is choosing the items selected in Bridge but it is using Photoshop to actually do the effects. Bridge and Lightroom don't (yet) have the power to do the sort of effects that Photoshop does....if they add those capabilities we will certainly make SIE available with it. Currently to do advanced editing on specific images you need Photoshop.

I had to look up "Berko" laughing.gif

We'll certainly get that fixed asap.

You misunderstood my question. I completely understand that SIE needs PS to run. my question is - When you open the SIE script is PS, it asks you what images you want to edit, either the "selected images in bridge", the "open images in PS" or "currently active image" - is it possible to add an option that says "selected images in LightRoom"??

I use the brilliant effects in LR now, but still have to open bridge and highlight all the images I want to edit. I would like to take bridge out of the equation as it is just an extra unnecessary step now.

ooooohhhhh smile.gif ...gotcha....my bad..... I'll check it out! Good idea!
Nathan Rodger
LOL - yep its the "crazy" part of that definition DJ... It might work fine on later builds (Swan? smile.gif ) but on my machine, and the current beta build you open the script dialog and get this hoping the uploaded screencap shows wink.gif ):

Anyway it is a bit of a pain - but its not the final build so maybe hold off investigation till thats confirmed.. Might just be me!
davidjay
Whoa - I agree - total berko smile.gif...I already emailed Forest to make sure we get that straightened out for you!

Rock on!

Not entirely true, but Photoshop has much more capability to edit individual images--for sure. LR can do spot healing, color adjustments, vignetting, sharpening (wait till 1.1, the sharpening is much better!), cropping, rotating, level adjustments, contrast adjustments, saturation adjustments, whitepoint adjustments, etc.

You can make those changes to individual images.

When I shoot a wedding, about 90-95 percent of my images are edited in LR. The other 5 percent get some kind of special sauce in PS. If I had to only have one program, there is no question it would be Lightroom.

Just my $.02!
davidjay
smile.gif That's correct...I was talking in context to Showit Effects.

Me too! That was the goal for both Aperture and Lightroom. Not having to go to PS for basic things saves time.

The idea of having SIF feed from Ligthroom too is an awesome idea!
