Full Version: Biz Name Change

I've been debating it for a while now, but I've decided to change my biz name from Amy's PhotoGraphix to just plain ole' Amy Wood Photography. I'm also going from sole proprietorship to an LLC. **(I don't really know the pros of doing that, but from what I gather from OSP, I assume it's a good choice. You can chime in if you like)**

I've been reading all the name change posts here on OSP, and I am in the same boat Reuben was a while back. I didn't want to go the typical name route, but I think with "Amy's PhotoGraphix", it was as "out there" as you can get, aside from my photography itself. Ha. I had hoped I could have come up with something else, similar to "Orange Cat Photography" or Melody's biz name, but I was again brought back to my usual off-the-wall creativity with names, and I simply just got tired of trying to think of something good.

Plus, I think it's simple enough that I won't have to spell it out to people over the phone (i.e., new vendors), like I do now.

Hi Amy -

I totally understand that struggle to want to do something totally different. My name is Amy too, and when I was a kid I was frustrated that my parents didn't give me a more unique name (they got really creative with my younger siblings - Amos and Agape). I think you've made a good choice, though.
For the LLC, if you are grossing more than 20-30k per year then it is a good idea.

Good luck!

My real name gets butchered all the time so I COULDN'T use it for my business. Amy Wood is VERY easy to remember and spell. Will it always be your last name or maybe use your middle in case your last name changes?
