Wow - I should be packing because my flight is in 2 hours but I just downloaded the latest Harvard Business Review and there's an article in it called "The Ethical Mind" and it's so similiar to what I've been thinking about and talking to people about lately!

You should talk to every boss I've ever had. (There have been a lot.)

Actually, it also ties in with why people post about on forums like this. I always tell it like I really see it (and, I would argue, the way it really is).

It's a lot easier to just blend in with the crowd. But I couldn't live with myself if I did that.

Wow! That speaks volumes to me. About 8 months ago my husband was abruptly asked to shut up....resign......or be fired from his paid youth pastor position at our church when he exposed a relationship between a female 30 something youth worker (voulunteer) and a 17 year old youth male in the group. The church wanted to just sweep it under the rug and not even tell the boys parents. My husband wasn't going for that! Since he's a seminary graduate, ministry is all he knows and since his income was our primary income it turned out whole lives around. But despite everything we lost i think we gained more!

Thanks for sharing this!

Dejah: Good for you! I too have been in ministry most of my life (music) and have left many a position because of ethics. It always pays in the long run! God Bless!

I work for a very very large corporation and I have been talking with my co-workers about that idea lately. Unfortunately most of them are in a position where they cannot afford to lose a job, because there are not a lot of other jobs in Michigan right now. so they are faced with stand up for themselves or feed my family decisions.

Nonetheless I find it so aggrivating to hear my co-workers talk about how they are treated or gripe about the way the company or our building is run, but the second this supervisor or that boss walks through its all smiles and this big facade.

Perhaps I am in a different position because I am leaving there at the end of May, but I have always told myself that I will not work for a person, a company, etc. that does not allow for individual voices. Luckily I am finally realizing my dream to do photography full time, but even if I were not I would still be leaving my job very soon because of this concept
