Hey!

Came by the link to OSP (look, I'm already using common acronyms! I'm practically admin.. right?) on another photographer's blog, and I'm impressed already!

I've got to say, I really like the attitude of this board with my limited exposure. In my experience, some boards are full of people with inflated egos who can barely tolerate a post consisting any smileys or "lol"s, or they're way laid back and barely even touch on the subject of photography, OSP seems to be the perfect ratio of both! I'm looking forward to spending alot of time here.

So anyway, my name's Dylan, I'm from Edmonton, AB, Canada (but don't mention the Oilers until next year mad.gif ). I've only been shooting seriously for about a year now, but during this year I've soaked up every little piece of information that I could, and I've learned alot. I don't ever want to start learning, and it seems that this board will be nothing short of incredibly helpful. So far, I see great people, great photos, and great information.

So yeah, I think I've given all of YOU enough credit for now, hope to talk to you all soon!

Great to have you here. Be sure to look up Chris Uglanica up there in Edmonton. He's another great OSPer from that area I believe.

Oh, and my equipment is pretty basic, but here's the setup.

Nikon D50
kit lens
50mm 1.8
sigma 70-300 dg macro
sb-600

and the nikkor 17-55 2.8 is in the mail. biggrin.gif

Anyway, its not the equipment, it's how you use it, right? smile.gif

Welcome to OSP. There are several OSPers from Edmonton. You should put together an OSPEd get-together or something. thumbsup.gif

Well I already have some changes. I got ahold of the D80 kit lens, so now I have the 18-135 D80 kit lens, and I also picked up a ML-L3 remote for the camera.

And look I have an avatar! I fit in more and more each day wink.gif

Hi Dylan, great to meet you. I'm also new here, and know of David Jay from another forum... then I see a lot of other famous faces, which makes me comfortable. If those people are here, then it *is* a good place!

So how about 'em Oilers, eh? biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Another Canuck in the Forum good to see. I'm a transplanted Edmontonian myself. I won't talk about the Oil because it depresses me. I did however get to watch them in the Stanley Cup finals last year in Carolina. How things change in just a year. Bring back Smitty and we go for the cup again.

Good luck with things. Hopefully you'll hook up with Chris and some of the other members from Ed.

Wasn't it incredible? Most amazing atmosphere I've ever been a part of. I went to every single Edmonton playoff home game last year biggrin.gif

Hey Dylan, I took a peek at the blog. Very nice images at the UofA, also I remember driving under that cloud you have a photo of, I was watching out my sunroof waiting for the tornado to appear.

Thanks Duane! It was really nice to wake up to some kind words from such an established photog like yourself!

I recognized the big pillars at the U of A instantly from some shots of your website. They're the ones right by where my piggyback photos were taken. It was funny to recognize it so suddenly.

I threw some more up on my blog, check them out as well! smile.gif

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone
