Sounds like I may have a architectural shoot coming up.. I've made images of interiors and a few exteriors and they like what they see...how would I even charge them?

I've always been under the impression that its a highly competitive field...is it really?

Whats the deal? Anybody know anything about it? Tell me everything! The good, the Bad and the not so attractive. smile.gif

I just got back from my first shoot. Its for my wife's company that sells high end office furniture.

They were paying $1200 for 5 photos to choose from and got 1 high rez. The photographer had 0 talent, used a Sony P&S and knew nothing about color management or anything else. I ended up color correcting and printing most of the images for them. They were too lazy to shop around, but then the photographer asked them to sign a year long contract and they said F that and knew I did good work in other areas. I showed them a few random architectural photos I had done and that was that.

Since I hadn't done much in this field, I gave them a pretty resonable rate for now. $500 for up to 4 hours, 750 for more. Then its was like $20 per shot.

The one I did today was for the inside of the Alaksa first class business lounge at the airport, in and out inside an hour, couple images up in a Lightroom watermarked website and they get to choose what they want on disk.

In my search for more info I came across www.asmp.org - they have some great pdf publications for clients on what to expect when hiring an architectural photographer.

I recently did some work for a Realtor, inside house for sale shots. It took me as long to get the images and process them as it would a portrait shoot so I charged them my protrait price. I did the shoot, processed the images, made a couple rooms into panoramics in a Quicktime movie for their website. It was a lot of fun and for a great family.
