The Salt Lake City OneLight workshop was a huge success despite some travel drama. BIG thanks to Davina Fear for hosting the workshop, doing all the groundwork, and giving me a warm place to rest my head. And big thanks to all of you who came out for it! Thanks to everyone for taking the risky trip to the roof! It was worth it wasn't it? smile.gif

Start at the bottom and climb to the top! Well, something like that. smile.gif

Thanks to Shanda and Randy for being our fantastic subjects for the shoot.

One of my favorite demonstrations I do at a workshop is walking into an environment that looks like this....

Then, without changing a thing in the environment we are shooting, we can make a photo like this with ZERO PhotoChopping....

We can make this image change this drastically by understanding how light and simple modifiers work.

Thank you Shannon from Lucky Red Hen photography for your wonderful gift to me. I had forgotten how great of a band the Replacements were. And the book you gave me was so good that I read it twice on the way home yesterday! Shannon found out that I was a big fan of The Decemberists. The lead singer for that band, Colin Meloy, wrote the book for the 33 1/3 series. Reading his book took me back to the very early formative years of mine that were very similar to his experience. It made me remember so many things about my life. Thanks.

One of the best things about doing this workshop is that I get to meet so many OSP'ers! I heart ya'll so much!!!!

Cheers,
Zack

OneLight ROCKS!!! If you haven't been, you should (Chris Stewart... this is THE workshop for YOU). Shanda and Randy WERE troopers in the cold, SO good lookin', patient and kind. Thanks Davina and Kate for arranging everything smile.gif Zack... I'm SO glad you liked the gift. Thank you for your kindness, patience and wisdom (oh, and the food I wasn't going to eat but did because it was in front of me LOL). Glad to have met new friends (hope to see them on OSP)! Thanks, Jeremy, for your asparagus and Rebekah for driving wink.gif

We just booked Indianapolis and Boston. Stay tuned for dates.

We're looking to get to Milwaukee and Detroit as well as another Chicago. (need hosts!)

I have 30 people on waiting lists for the West Coast so I'll be back out there ASAP as well. Florida is in the sights as well as some more South East dates. New things are in the works for the workshop. A whole new OneLight is being produced right now. Prices will be raising and class sizes will be dropping. I am super excited about this v 2.0! It will probably roll out this fall.

Cheers,
Zack

How much are you under ambient light in the group shot and the girl with the black background.

Just a guess.
Thanks
Troy

If ANYONE wants to be inspired and have your brain fed until it's about ready to explode... go to this workshop! Zack is a master at his craft and is an incredible instructor.

Thank you so much Zack for coming to SLC, I learned and am finally starting to understand the relationship between the aperture, shutter speed, manual flash settings and ISO. You're workshop was wonderful. Woot! smile.gif

Thanks everyone for coming and a BIG thank you to Davina... she made this happen!
