Full Version: One chance to impress

I was at a wedding vendor meeting the other day and afterwards was talking to someone telling me about these two wedding designers/coordinators that have just teamed up. They only do really high-end "different and fabulous" weddings and have very fun personalities. Because they have just teamed up they are looking for new vendors to work with. I contacted them to set up a meeting and they were very nice. I will be meeting with them in a week or two to show them my work.

I need to really really really impress them. I want to go over the top and present everything so well that they can't say no and I am the first person that comes to their mind when recommending people to the bride.

This is a HUGE opportunity for me and I don't want to mess it up. I only have a week or so so I can't order anything that would take long to get here. Please help me with ideas for presentation, packaging.... whatever. Thanks!

Call them back, tell them you'd like to take them out for a nice dinner! Then either bring some books along or plan on going back to your office afterwards.

Develop a relationship with them and you're at least 75% of the way there!

I'll do it! Thanks for the advice. The biggest problem is that we don't have any books.... we just use our queensberry sample books to show brides the album quality and then our website and portfolio to show our work. The portfolio isn't nice enough though for this and I was actually thinking about maybe leaving something with them. I'm in a pickle.

Awesome advice!!

Also, nobody likes to be overwhelmed with information. Be selective, and only bring your very favorite work.

Can you get some prints to frame or anything like that? Give them something tangible of yours that they can keep. I also agree with the above.

Love the dinner idea...how about a canvas? Be sure to bring an awesome outgoing personality! smile.gif Hoping the best for you!

Large prints would be a great idea, and maybe even a few to give them! Also, make sure that you have business cards ready.

Otherwise, make sure they don't have the wrong expectations that they are going to be looking at albums, etc, but focus on the dinner and the relationships!

just checked out your website and your work is very good (not sure about the opening shot on the home page that starts off the show, I would lose that one) your website is slick but clicked onto the photos section and only one wedding picture, you really need to sort that out and fast before you start taking people out to dinner. In England it is a bit of a bizare concept the dinner for business thing so I cant comment if it is what works and is expected then go for it however I would keep things on a more formal (not necessarily stuffy) basis and maybe meet in a cofee shop and bring a laptop loaded with a variety of your best wedding shows, in fact I would pre- prepare one show with a compalation of all your best shots. Then print up some postcards with a couple of your gorgeous pics and contact details (including some of your trademark pink) and leave them with those and a complilation CD?DVD of your show, maybe with a voice over from you saying who you are and sounding fun, fun , fun. make sure you put a nice label on the CD/DVD . In fact give them a load to hand out to future prospective clients. But before all that sort out your website because that will make or break you.
cheers steve
