Full Version: Error: unable to load file [images/img_222.jpg]
OpenSourcePhoto > GetIt > Showit Web

I've just started using ShowIt Web 2. (I've been using ShowIt 1 with no problems.) I've created three slide shows so far with SI 2, and in every slide show, I repeatedly get the error message:

error: unable to load file [images/img_222.jpg]

When I get this message, the slide show, of course, freezes. I refresh the page and the show restarts, but then I get the message for ANOTHER image. I've used IE6, IE7, and an updated Firefox, and I get the same error message, regardless of what browser I'm using. (I even tried the shows at work and I had the same problem!)

I have a slide show promised(!) to someone for tomorrow!

When I click "save and view slide show" it works perfectly. It's only the online shows. I've ftp'ed through My Network Places and FireFTP and the same thing happens.

Can anyone help?

hey martin sounds like u just have a bit of curropted data

try uploading the individual files that you get errors on to the direct path i.e. www.martinharris.net/slideshows/bobandlarry/images/img_222.jpg and overwrite the img_222.jpg file or any file that gives you the error message

you could also be experiencing a problem with web permissions

i'm going to bed, but try that and if that doesn't work give me a call tommorrow and we'll get it fixed!

go martin go martin gooo!!!

It's a problem with the slideshow failing to load an image because of a network problem and not being able to retry/recover gracefully.

Check to see if other people are having the problem viewing the same show. (They might not - it might be a problem at your end.) If so, try uploading it somewhere else.

Thank you! Actually, it does happen elsewhere. I ran the same show on my work computer and I still got the error message. The strange part is: That the error message does not happen to the same image. It's random. Plus, there are a few times when the show runs without giving me an error message.

Last night, I re-uploaded the show. I ran it three times and it worked fine. On the fourth run, the error message appeared.

I then went to bed, frustrated.

I host through Blu. Do you think it's a server problem? Or is it a software problem?

I'm no computer wiz, but I have some theories to question:

-I'm uploading via a wireless connection. Does this make a difference?

-My modem is old (4-5 years old) and sometimes the wireless connection times out (random glitches when the connection resets itself). I've ordered a new modem, just in case.

-Or I have no idea what I'm talking about and the problem lies elsewhere. wacko.gif

For today, I've promised a slide show for my students of a senior session that I shot on Sunday. I'll just have to cross my fingers! (Or keep hitting the refresh button!)

Thank you, again.
If I can't figure it out, TimCo, you're probably getting a phone call later this afternoon!

Hey Martin,

I've had the same thing happen on occasion. The only thing I could suggest, is perhaps setting your SIW to have the entire show load before playing.

It does not happen all the time, or to every show I have up, which is really frustrating when trying to diagnose the issue.

Hey Chris!

Thanks! Where is that SIW setting? Do you use it?

What ended up working is: I had to delete the show, create a new one, then I uploaded it file-by-file. This seemed to have worked okay.

Also, I get the error message more when using Firefox, and much less in Internet Explorer.

So it is.

Take care!

Hey Martin,

go to controls > Advanced > Preload entire show before playing.

I have found that within firefox, I have to clear the cache out before I can see changes made to a show.
