First couple has nice facial expressions, the fact that you shot them in the city gives your images a different look as well, which is always a plus if you don't have an indoor studio. cool.gif

Your second couple looks marvelous as well, they have a nice relaxed expressions, poses mixed in with a nice composition. Sweet! wink.gif

I received your message regarding PPA in Austin, do you have dates & times? We could probably meet out here then.

Hey Katherine,

Great Shots! I like them all. In an effort to excercise my new underdeveloped "LoveCat" skills (thank you DJ) smile.gif I'm going to go waay on on a limb here and suggest some changes I think make the photos POP more. I've attached your images with some minor changes that I think make them even better.

I use this trick on almost all my photos and I think it helps in most cases. What do you think?

All I did was duplicate the layer in Photoshop>Do a Gaussian Blur of about 4> Then change the blend more to Overlay or Softlight whichever you prefer>Then lower the opacity to your like.

Anyway..just trying to share ideas smile.gif Either way they are great photos smile.gif
Katherine

Alan...those are awesome. I need to spend more time in PS...I really do. I spend sooo much time on here! tongue.gif

Thanks Alan...and Carlos....

KK great shots! Alan, I really like what you did with them too. That was awesome!

KK, I really really did the city ones. They look like something out of a magazine add! Great job! Awesome vibe from those! Keep up the good work!

Nice! smile.gif All the props go back to Mr. Sanders (both of them)

...and since Alan is being nice (I like those pics btw) I want everyone to look at the awesome job he did of compressing those files and use that as an example! His pics still look great and they are under 30k!

Katherine darling...please read this thread about compression... wink.gif Click here

Those are great shots, Katherine. I think I remember this bridge from a previou set....am I mistaken?

@ Alan - Great technique. Did you bump up the Sats a bit as well, Alan?

Floyd
Chris Humphreys

I don't think he bumped the sats....I think with the overlay layer type you'll get that feel to it. Try it in PS.
Chris Humphreys

BTW....if you try Alan's idea, make sure to try it in Overlay AND softlight layers. I really like the feel the "softlight" layer gives. I've never tried that before.

Great idea Alan! Thanks for sharing!

No problem. I'm happy to share what I know. Just being a LuvCat smile.gif I dig that word biggrin.gif

Flyod,

Chris is right. The blend mode changes the saturation. Using the blend modes can really give a photo that artsy feel or at the very least add a little POP.

Alan...or anyone

I just tried doing it in PS...and am I supposed to erase over the couple when I have done all of the instructions? Without erasing over the couple they come out looking really blurry. What am I doing wrong??

kk
Chris Humphreys

If you are using the softlight or overlay layer type you shouldn't need to erase. Just mess with the opacity of the layer in the layer dialoge box, and also mess around with how much you blur the layer in the blur dialoge box. That should give you a tons of room to get the look you want.

You can make a regular layer and add blur and use the eraser tool for the same a effect, particularly if you want to not have their faces (or whatever) as blurred as the rest of the image. Fool around with all the different variables and you'll catch on. Fooling around with photoshop is the best way to learn!
