Hi everyone.

When i try to include a SIW 2.5 Slideshow in my Wordpress Blog, it shows the Slideshow, but everything below the show (even older posts) are not show anymore.

When i use the embeded code, nothing happens. It seems that wordpress does not save the embeded code.

Does any of you have an idea what i am doing wrong?

Greetings

Hey Juergen!

Are you still on Wordpress's servers, or are you hosting your own? From what I found out, wordpress won't allow flash embeds because it opens up a security risk (I have no idea what that means) but if you host Wordpress on your OWN server (i.e. domain name) instead of theirs you can totally do it.

It looks like you may have done this already, but if you haven't, instead of going to Wordpress.com, go to Wordpress.org and you'll find the info you need to host your own blog. It's a pain in the butt, but then you have more freedom re: flash embeds (and therefor showit slideshows). You still have to experiment with the code a little bit to make the show "fit" within your blog's design constraints so that it doesn't cover up anything else, but once you figure it out you're golden!

Here's the code that I use- I may have gotten it from the troubleshooting section on Showit's website, but I can't remember!

<div><iframe style="border: medium none ; background-color:FFFFFF;" src="http://LOCATION WHERE YOU UPLOADED YOUR SLIDESHOW TO.html" title="Showit Web Slideshow" frameborder="0" height="500" width="450" scrolling="no"></iframe></div>

The height and width are slightly larger than the slideshow that I uploaded to fit controls and such.

Hopefully this helps and isn't redundant info!

Laurel is right on here if you're using the hosted version, they severely limit what you are allowed to embed in posts.

Hi..
thank you for your reply.

In detail i have the following problem.

I can include the code mentioned above.

Example:

[codebox]<div>
<iframe style="border: medium none ; background-color:FFFFFF;"
src="http://www.storybooklove.de/album/mayr/20070107"
title="Showit Web Slideshow" frameborder="0" height="500"
width="450" scrolling="no">
</iframe>
</div>[/codebox]

This works fine, but all other blogentries i have written before are not visible anymore.
Even the navigationbar on the right disapered.

I have installed Wordpress on my own webserver.

heya...

I can't really offer any other advice. I kinda had a feeling that you already had it on your own server, but was hoping that you didn't so that there was an easy answer to your question. The only thing that I can think of is that something in that code is physically blocking everything else out (like pushing it out of the picture) but if you've already created your shows to fit into a tiny constraint like what's in the code, I have absolutely no clue what the issue is! I wish I knew more, but i really don't (I know enough to THINK I can do things myself... but then get myself into trouble down the line)! maybe there's a support section on wordpress.org??

good luck!!!

There is a potential problem with the code - I have seen this recently with some of the Wordpress templates. Try making sure you aren't using the Rich Text Editor (disable it completely, for the time-being by going under "Users" and editing your user profile.

Don't copy and paste into the box. Type it in. Sometimes copying and pasting can leave extraneous material which can mess up the template.

Let me know how that works. If it doesn't, I can try to help you troubleshoot a bit more.
