Everyone please tell me who you use for your blog. I have been using Blogger.com but have run into three to four different problems in the last week. Not being able to post or edit during the last four days being the biggest. The support for the site has not been very good up to this point. It is free but what good is free if you can not use it. So I need to find a new home, any ideas? Thanks.

Whats the problem you have had with blogger ? I have been using it for a little while now and found it to be fantastic and very reliable (certainly been working fine for me in the last few days) very glad I chose to use it rather than hosting my own with wordpress like I have previously, totally hassle free and has the features I want.

One of the things that convinced me to use blogger was the amount of high profile photographers using it, including DJ himself, if its good enough for them its certainly good enough for me was my logic, added to which the number of other google services that i currently use for my photography business just keeps growing and growing so may as well keep it all in one place.

Wordpress, or Xanga?

Wordpress here, but they all do the same thing, blogger and Xanga are alternatives.

I've had no issues what-so-ever with wordpress though - lots of plugins for fun stuff too, and you can edit your code if you're so inclined for extras (as you can in blogger et al), I customed my header to randomise the images shown - easy stuff.

people who are looking for photographers don't care what you're using to display your images, only that they're good photos displayed effectively. So I'm not sure I'd buy the whole 'because everyone else is' argument.
It needs to fit your requirements, they're free to use so just sign up and see for yourself!

The first problem I had was that I could not upload photos. Then for four days I got an error message everytime I tried to edit a post. Then I could not post at all. Then after I could post the only to icons on the post menu were spell check and add pictures, no bold, no underline, no link, no anything. I just got very frustrated because I read this great post here about how to increase blog traffic and could do or say anything.

I have researched it more and I think it could be a Safari thing. I saw lots of post on the Blogger site about Blogger and Safari not playing well. I am still not sure. I did switch over to Word Press today so we will see how that goes. Thanks to all that replied.

Is the Wordpress blog hosted at your site? If it isn't you might want to look into that. Your hosting company could offer an instant install of Wordpress using a MySQL db.

Good luck.

Word Press is great. I was using Blogger before and it wasn't hosted on my own site, so with a little help from Jules I was able to switch over to Word Press and host it on my own site. Check with your hosting and see if they offer anything like this as part of their service. If you are computer savy you should be able to get it done without too much trouble. The amount of time I am sure will depend on your knowledge.

Hi, I used wordpress. I did a lot of research when I was looking for a new (free) blog host. I really liked the features on wordpress such as being able to search within your blog, create categories, blog hit stats, etc., everything located in one place. you can purchase for $10 a year domain forwarding and extra space for your photos and I've never had a problem with uploading photos. They also have a variety of templates which are nice . . . i have read that if you put the blog on your own server, some features such as akismet (spam protection) and i think blog stats are not available, but they might have changed that. Hope this helps :]

It's true, if you host on your own server stats and akismet are not on by default, however if you're savvy enough to have it on your own server, then it's a really simple task to add those plugins - also if you have it on your own server you can modify the css and php to make your site more custom - which is a definate plus.

You can track stats so much better with something like statcounter anyway - there is much more information available and it's also free (there are a bunch of other free stat counters out there).

I have WordPress hosted on my own server. smile.gif

I have several blogs. My favorite is Squarespace, which is a paid site. Wordpress would be second, blogger is great...when it works.

James, if Safari is the issue, why don't you download Firefox and use that browser for when you're uploading to your blog?

Bigfolio blogs are $5 a month and I've never had any problems blogging with them.

Hi bloggers!I have a question for you experienced bloggers. How do you add to the posted pictures a frame with your logo?

Thank you

Can you customize the css with blogspot? If you can, you can use that to automatically add a border graphic. If not, you'll have to create your image with the border in photoshop and upload it that way.
