I have seen many photogs who've posted (whether it's this site or their own websites & blogs) images w/ the borders, but their logo's are on them. I have the 'showit borders'. Is there a way to automate that somehow? Pictured is something I would like to be able to do automated(without doing each image individually). Help...anyone???

Here is a link to the Russell Brown (Adobe) video tutorial and two threads that discussed this very task.

Good luck!

P.S. The strikethrough is a reference to a funny thread Carrie V started a few days ago laugh.gif

But he's a great source of information!

From his site:
Who is Russell Preston Brown?

As Sr. Creative Director at Adobe Systems Incorporated,
Russell Preston Brown holds a unique position in the computer industry. Brown maintains a vital presence in the digital design and publishing community, facilitating the exchange between the user and software developer that is so essential to Adobe's software development. With complete mastery and breath taking style, Brown shows users how to work – and play – with Adobe software. He has given the world's leading photographers, publishers, art directors, and artists a strong grasp of the software tools that, by virtually all accounts, have led to Adobe's applications becoming the standard by which others are measured. Remember, what Russell always says "Learning about Adobe Photoshop should never be boring".

is there a similar tutorial on how do do this as a border rather than a watermark? or can anyone tell me what steps I would need to add in order to do this correctly?

Thanks smile.gif

That's what I was wondering too. I've been waiting for this type of tutorial to show us how to batch with your logo in a border also. Those look really clean.

Here's what I do:

I write an action in Photoshop that does the following steps:

(1) Changes the canvas size to 15-25 pixels larger than it currently is. The colour you choose here becomes the colour of the keyline for the border. If you select "relative" in the canvas size dialog, this works best.

(2) Change the canvas size yet again to 500 pixes larger than it currently is. This colour I set to black but it can be any colour you choose. This is your border.

(3) I then or place the image that I want to use as my logo. Mine is just the letter "t." so I use the type dialog. I position the text where I want it to be. This is where it gets tricky because if you have cropped an image and you want to put your logo in the bottom right corner, the coordinates will be different for each image. If you place it in the bottom, centred, this can be standardized for each image (usually). You will need to tweak this portion based on what you are trying to accomplish.

(4) Flatten your image.

(5) I normally then do an image size change if I am posting this to the web and a quick USM to finish it off.

*NOTE: I have had to create two actions, one for portrait shots and one for landscape shots because of the differences in sizes/orientation. You may find an easier way to do this but this is what has worked for me.

PS: The examples on my Blog & my Flickr site were all created using this method.

I hope this helps!
Cheers!

You're very welcome Michelle!
And if you find an easier/better way of doing this when you experiment, I'm all ears!

yay i made a simple boreder/logo action using a combination of both methods described above smile.gif

i was able to do the border for both veritcle and horizontals using one action. when enlarging the canvas size have the "relative" box checked, this will allow it to work for both i think. then i used the method for putting it on the bottom right described in the video tutorial.

heres an example:
