We've been working for a while on a show for our bridal show tomorrow (yeah, I don't really like doing them, but...)... anyway, we tried using some songs I purchased from iTunes. It didn't like them for some reason, and wouldn't export the show because it said the audio kept failing. We went out and bought the cd (now we've purchased the songs TWICE), and tried re-importing them, to no avail.

Anyone have a similar problem? How can I solve it??? We really need to get this working by the morning! The last time I had a minor problem with Fotomagico, I posted here, and Rick came to my rescue and was really great; but since I gather he's not around here anymore, I need some help from another friendly OSPer. Anyone?!?!

from the FAQ for Fotomagico... (copyright issues aside)

How can I use songs purchased on the iTunes Music Store?

FotoMagico cannot include audio from songs purchased from the iTunes Music Store in an export movie, as Apple prohibits third party applications to access the sound data. We do sincerely hope that Apple eventually changes its DRM policies. You can use the songs when presenting the slideshow live in FotoMagico.

Thanks for the post, Lorne! We did actually find that FAQ about the music; but even with the songs we DIDN'T purchase from iTunes (and purchased on CD or otherwise) didn't work either. We ended up using the show without music (it's so loud in the convention center anyway), but we would like to add the audio back before we use it as a promo dvd for prospective clients.

So, anyone have any more ideas? Has anyone else had this problem? After so many tries and re-tries, we're wondering if it's just a glitch in their latest 2.0 version.... ??

... I'm still using v1.8. Not sure I will upgrade... love the program, but don't see much in v2 for me at this point.

How did you import the CD that you purchased? Is it imported as a .mp3 file, or a .aac file?

Does FM allow you to use .aac files? I think the standard is .mp3 files, but I don't use FM.

They've just released a new download of version 2

go here to download.

I haven't had any problems using mp3 files in the shows. I like the suggestion above to check the file format.

Also: Kawter laughing.gif Thanks, I needed that!

I know that this thread is old and totally won't help - but for future reference...

If one were to be inclined to skirt around Apple's DRM all you need to do is burn the song purchased from iTunes onto a CD and reimport the songs from the CD. I thing that you also need to make sure it's an MP3 file as well. Then try to reimport into FM. I'm not sayin' I do it and I'm not sayin' it's the right thing to do, I'm just sayin...

Also, good news is that many labels are lifting the DRM from iTunes so this won't be as difficult in the future.

i am having the exact same issue with getting audio to add to the slideshow. it plays wonderfully on my computer but will not import to the burning program i am using, which is toast.

the error message states "Couldn't render the audio part of the slideshow. Please contact the developer." this makes it difficult to complete a dvd when the company is based in germany and has no direct support line. by email only and it takes a few days for a response.

i am using the pro version 2.0 on my mac. if anyone has experienced this or found a resolution to this issue, please post smile.gif

thanks!

hi robin, thanks for the note last night! I was looking into the issue today, and saw that a new 2.1 version got released just today... I'm downloading it now. I don't know if the fixes will be what we're looking for, but here's to hoping! BTW, your senior stuff is great! I'll let you know if I get any success with downloading the newest version today.

lori
i just downloaded their newest version (2.1) released today, and the problem is fixed! YAY! i have an artist who is going to be giving me permission to use his music now though, so hopefully i won't have to even deal with that issue anymore. but, for those who want to do it that way (i'm still not saying it's right or wrong), it works now.
