Does anyone own a Dell 1707FP monitor, the one that swivels to portrait or landscape?

I have the chance to get one as a second monitor at a good price. I have checked out a couple of reviews on the web that say they a reasonably good but would much rather hear what the good people of OSP think. As always colour and sharpness are the main areas of interest.

For the record, it will be hooked up to my Powerbook 17inch.

Thanks in advance.

"BUMP"

Sorry to bump this to the top people, but would be interested in hearing from anyone with experience of any Dell monitor?

Never having used one before and not knowing anyone who has either I would love to get some feedback as to the general opinion of their Dell monitors.

It is a nice looking and bright monitor, but it can't be color corrected. The colors will get about right but they will always be too bright, the blacks just don't get black enough.
I posted an amazing deal that is gone on the NEC 2070NX for $249. It is now back to $475, which is still really good. It is the same monitor as the $1500 LaCie but it doesn't have all the features (NEC makes the LaCie, all the guts are the same). It is one of the very few monitors under $1K that can be color corrected.

Many thanks Colin, I didn't think it would fantastic at colour based on the price but thought it might be still worth thinking about. Great info about the NEC making Lacie.

Thanks again.

i can attest to the fact that dells cant be calibrated correctly. i've got a dell monitor as a second screen on my G5 and even after calibration it looks like crap. get an apple display, don't bother with dells. they are nice, but color is a bit funky.
