I'm loving the new ability to upload pictures and I wanted to pass along some cool tips on how to keep your file sizes down while still posting great looking shots!

biggrin.gif PLEASE USE THE "Save for Web" utility in Photoshop by pressing (command/alt/shift/"s")

This feature allows you to save the file as a MEDIUM level jpeg as well as RESIZE the image to an appropriate 300 or 400 pixels.

Files should be between 10 and 50k but please don't upload individual pictures larger than that because it'll fill up our server sooooo fast! You can always upload those pics to your own site and link to them! smile.gif

Thanks everyone for helping out! biggrin.gif

Cheers,
DJ

How are others posting more than 400K worth of photos in a single post? Is there some sort of special paid membership I'm not seeing that allows this?

I don't think there is any special treatment of others... DJ is just asking us to be good citizens and only upload small files, I think the imposed limit is 600k. It looks better to host elsewhere anyway since you can put the pictures inline.

Gotit, thanks. I guess oon a few of the threads I was looking at people were hosting their photos someplace else because they had way more than 400K worth of photos.

I use photobucket then plug the link into my post... is that doing the trick or am I missing something (I'm sure Bill will tell me if I am haha)?
