What is something that you've always wanted to do or curious about but didn't have the guts to do? Like a deep dark hidden passion or something.

Like if you could do or work anywhere besides in our field...where or what would you be doing?????

Katherine
I would lllllllove to be like a US Navy Seal...in a foreign jungle spying or something.

I've always wanted to talk "military talk"....with my walkie talkie gear and war paint under my eyes...

"This is Kitty Kat...do you copy?...I've got disturbance at the 3 o'clock...Roger that? Do you copy?....see you at the north end...742...I'm out"
Katherine
Either that...or travel wiht the circus and be one of those people who get to pop out of a canon. Wouldn't that be fun? Just for day? cool.gif

Or...maybe be an Alaskan Crab fisherman. I saw a documentary on the discovery channel. It's supposed to be really dangerous. I would love to try and do that. happy.gif happy.gif happy.gif Just for like...maybe a day. biggrin.gif
davidjay
smile.gif haha...I would've said the same thing! (about Navy Seals - not the circus)

...or take Aston Kutcher's punk'd show! laugh.gif
Katherine
Oh how funny! DJ!!!

After seeing that prank you did on Dane...I can totally see you doing that if you weren't into photography!!! laugh.gif laugh.gif

Since I'm a former Marine that wouldn't be my desire.

Funny I have this daydream of being an International Renown Fashion Photographer. I know you said not in this field but ....

Problem is I'm way too conservative to make it in Fashion.

I think mine would have to be a performance poet & musician (wait I already do those too!)

That doesn't count, Mr. Hicks!!!
Linda
I wanted to be a Chimp like DJ & Tim

Photography IS my deep, dark, hidden passion. I'm a computer programmer full time until I can actually feed my family on my photography income.

I also love music. (I play piano.)

That's awesome! I play the violin. I used to be really good back in my un-hormonal days. wacko.gif What pieces are your favorite to play on the piano?

KK
Chris Humphreys

As my name states, I would be a "musicman." smile.gif

I used to do a lot of song writting and went from playing guitar 2-3 hours a day to playing guitar once every two weeks. I would love to be a traveling folk songwriter never playing shows for more than a 200 people max, but mostly in little clubs, and have a small but loyal fan club. That's my secret dream and actually that was my plan for life until DJ told me to put down my guitar and pick up a camera.

On the good side I'm probably making TONS more $$$ in photography than I would have been playing music. It's a bit depressing at time because I have 4 roommates who are incredible musicians and I see them getting better and better and me getting worse and worse. But that's the price you pay I guess....
Bumatay
I'm in the same line as Greg C. I work in the IT field and I'm beginning to dabble in my passion/fantasy for photography. One of these days I will also start taking some landscape/travel photography.
peter
Ooooo, good question. I don't think I have a deep passion for any career-type thing though. I think if I could get paid to do whatever I want (or rather, if I could do whatever I want and not have to worry about money), I would love to travel the world, meet as many people as possible and immerse myself in every culture I could. I don't know what that really entails, but I think the desire is fueled by a deep need to really understand who people are. Something like that.

...or own a small coffee shop/gourmet Italian deli in coastal Maine... with walls lined with books, a fireplace and a view of the ocean.
oneblankcanvas
Ok... ok... since mine wasn't kosher with Katherine, I would be a tattoo artist.

Tim Halberg
I think being a stunt man would be SICK!!! seriously, how fun would that be, I could do all my outdoor sports I love, and get paid for doing crazy stuff. My life fullfilled.

Hmm... I wonder if they have good insurance coverage.
Floyd
I'm with Peter. I think that I'd just like to travel all over the place. Hmmmm.....now that I think about it, I want to be one of those hosts on the Travel Channel who get to go everywhere and review plush hotels and the extravagant lifestyle.

Then there's part of me who just wants to make/play/record music. I grew up in a musical family, and it's always been part of my life. I took 13 years of piano lessons, but I can't remember squat about music theory. I love it when I can just sit at the piano and play what feels good. Of course, I'd love to be able to play guitar really well, but I just started playing less than a year ago. Maybe Chris could give me some lessons sometime? tongue.gif

And then there's photography....let's just leave it at that.

Such a simple question that is not easily answered. Oh well....I can dream, can't I? biggrin.gif
Tricia
I would love to be in the CIA, I think that would be so awsome. To be able to pretend to be something I'm not and get paid for it ph34r.gif

Oh yes!!! I'm with ya on that one!! There's just so many things that I wanna do ya know? Great answers everyone!

I'd be a hairdresser wink.gif

Here's the proof: user posted image

Yes, this was at a wedding I shot a week or so ago. Yes, I'm using an instrument that I didn't know how to turn on ... and no, it wasn't my camera.

Amy Nave ... can you help me out with this one? I'd like to explain, but I fear it will just incriminate me too much.

Well, I play mostly church music these days. We did about 8 pieces at church this morning, and the most fun was the Old Time Religion Medley. Gotta love that jazzy stuff!

I used to love Chopin when I was doing more classical stuff though...
Katherine
That's awesome Greg! I used to play in our church's orchestra back home (Honolulu)...a bit on the classical side too...and now living here in cajun land I find myself fiddlin' playing the Devil Went Down to Georgia. smile.gif

This is the part where I have to show my age.... I got out of the Marine Corp in 1985 ohmy.gif So I hate to admit it but I've forgotten smile.gif smile.gif

Honestly I never got into it that much anyway. Besides since I was in Artillery not communications I never used the jargon much anyway. I drove an ammo truck with the bombs.

You know your expendable when they give you a little pistol (45) and tell you to drive a truck loaded with bombs that has signs all over it that read "Caution Exposives" biggrin.gif biggrin.gif Basically riding around with a target painted on you biggrin.gif

As someone once so eloquently said.... "Here's your sign" biggrin.gif (Funny if you know the jokes)

Taking them out with a sniper rifle from about 2 miles. wub.gif LOL
sarahbarlow
my secret passion was to be the next Martha Stewart(without going to jail of course blink.gif )

I was actually planning on becoming an architect once I graduated, but my dad talked me out of it and I really wasn't up for 6 years of college anyways!! ph34r.gif

I guess I'll stick with photography!! wub.gif

I also want to add that I'd be using this dream weapon wub.gif Barrett wub.gif to give those bad guys some long distance love. wub.gif

You and Tricia could double up and take 'em! smile.gif
Carlos Hernandez
Yeah! that sounds good, she can be my spotter. I'll even be nice enough to let her take some bad guys out, with some long distance love. wub.gif

Which reminds me I can't wait to see the Mr. & Mrs. Smith movie. Yeah, baby! wink.gif

Ok since we've had like a million new members since this post...I'd like to know from all the newer members...

Great post. I would be a painter who lived in Tibet with the monks.

I always thought it'd be cool to have a coffee house with comfy chairs and magazines. Maybe even have a "no high technology allowed" policy. You know, just to mess with people like David who can't seem to help checking in from any weird location he can think of. ;-)
Reuben
Bush Pilot. Wanted to do that since I was about 7 years old. I'm still going to do it some day... airplane.gif
Lori Evelyn
This is fun....I would be the female version of Indiana Jones. biggrin.gif

Or in the CIA. I always thought it would be cool to save the world, and not have anyone even know they were in danger. ph34r.gif

Then again, a travel show would be fun....but if I'm Indiana Jones I guess I would get to travel.

Trust me when I say you do not want to be in Alaska on a boat in the water. You have never known cold like that. huh.gif

Oh, this is fun! For those of you who have read my introduction you know that Photography is my secret passion that I am just now beginning to follow. And I have to say that today I definitely feel "out of my element." You see, I just got out of Neuroanatomy, a class that I have had to study for every day! And today i don't have to study!!! It's just weird!

My other secret passion is acting. I LOVE acting. I pursued acting (for about five minutes!) rolleyes.gif earlier this year, and I actually got a speaking role for a low-budget film that was filmed here in Arkansas in January. It was sooo much fun! I worked with the crew as a PA for two weeks too! It was awesome. I wanted them to pack me and my hubby up and move us up to LA with them when they left.

huh.gif I'm still in Arkansas....... huh.gif

This is hilarious how'd I miss this???

I've had my share of acting/modeling desires. i.e. Everytime I look through a j.crew catolog I can't help but think "I'm just as normal looking as these guys I can do that."

But what I would really love to do would be write. Anything. Well anything that would keep people wanting more. Lyrics, screenwriting, best selling author, you know that kind of stuff. It's so expressive and empowering.
