Full Version: Glossy or Matte???

any preferences from those of you that have seen or used both? IMO Glossy seems like it might be better for slideshows
coreypolis
for editing - matte
for viewing normally - glossy

for slideshows on site - with the glossy you probably will get glare from windows or lights. The images on a matte screen don't pop as much, but thats why you put it near the bar!

Glossy just has too much glare.

If you will use it for some editing I would go with non-glossy, non-glare. Glossy gives a false sense of pop. If for slideshow only then glossy.

Thanks guys! Great thoughts

Any other opinions? so not too many like the Glossy?

We called apple when the glossy option came out, and the sales guy said that for editing, or anything color-sensitive, the matte is better. *nod nod*

The glossy is harder to see at an angle too.. so if a crowd gathers at your slideshow only those with direct line of sight will get the best show.

agreed with all of the above. matte is the way to go. it has better viewing angle, the color is more accurate (note the difference between accurate and "more vibrant")

glossy = glare. i just don't like the idea of that. period.

hey, I like the glossy, but I do all my post on a different monitor.

looks like it is matte eh?

thanks all

If you're thinking of doing any editing at all, you'll be glad you went matte. That plus the glare with the glossy screen can be a pain.

i know a couple people who got glossy just because all of the hype about them, and they are really not happy with the screens. i tried to hold back but i couldn't help saying "i told you so!"
