I am looking to hire an accountant because I am doing a church directory this coming April and May and since I am going to need to hire a few people to help out, I don't want to deal with the financials which will be more complicated than I can handle.

So, I have an appointment tomorrow to interview a cpa that works for a firm. The guy that was recommended to me is older, sick, and not taking any new clients (bummer). So I am wondering what to ask and what to look for in an accountant. My initial list of priorities are these:

1. I want simple system so I can do most of the day-to-day maintenance
2. I want to avoid paying as much taxes as possible (not tax evasion, tax avoidance, I know the difference between the 2 is 20 years wink.gif)
3. I want them to help/guide me in how to grow the business (is a cpa the one I'd look for this type of advise from?)

Please add to this list other things that I should consider when hiring an accountant, and feel free to include as much as possible, others may benefit from this too.

Someone else just asked this same question a few days ago, see responses here. Hope it helps.
