So just starting out as a photographer....i know rejection is part of the deal at first trying to break in...however.....this was especially rough....
I did a shoot with a "Scrabble" theme (i know, dont laugh....) originally used for an assignment for school, figured why not at least try to submit it for publication, doesnt hurt to try right? who knows, one may get lucky...so sure enough i get a response back from the Executive Director of the National Scrabble Association telling me he loved my shots, think they would look great for a promo or calender...tells me he is emailing them to his associates, asks me what i charge etc....i respond later asking about distribution, details about the publication yada yada....a day later he emails me back saying "Oh sorry...that whole thing was actually a joke. we have no real use for your shots." I couldnt believe that any executive director of anything could be that unprofessional...going out of his way to mess with a total stranger who was simply offering an idea...if he had responded simply "thanks anyway....but", then no problem, i would have walked away feeling fine that i tried etc. but to actually go out of your way to be a complete asshole?? why? so figured i could vent to others here and officially welcome myself to the world of photography:) please tell me this is the exception!!
