Just starting out in wedding biz here in Phoenix. Currently getting clients by word of mouth and wanted to know what folks recommend. What works best?

I hear a lot about The Knot.com and have a call into them to get pricing. Additionally we are considering some print ads or using Pictage for the marketing.

What works for other folks.

Thanks,
Michael

take a new vendor out to lunch once a week and keep in touch with them (IMO, planners and venue coordinators are best), see what their concerns are, how can you help out their business, make it personal. Bring work to show them but don't over push it.

In my humble opinion, you'll get a lot more out of that, than any web ad.

One of the major things that helped my business grow was optimizing my website for search engines. I also did a few google ads to get my ratings boosted. I also definitely agree with Stephen...work with the vendors in your area. I make portfoio books for the vendors in my area of their work (cakes, flowers, etc.) In regard to magazine ads, let me know...I am considering them myself!

Shanna,

What do you mean by "potfolio books"?  Are you talking about full size/length bridal albums that have a few images from each vendor (cake shots, flowers on the tables etc..) or are you talking about smaller books made specifically for different vendors that only feature images that pertain to the specific vendor/venue?

Thanks,
Josh
