Using all 8 slots on our G5 we have 5GB (4x1GB, 2x512MB)! We have our PowerBook maxed out at 2GB as well.
I'm not sure if it does anything once you get past 3GB, but the system stays relatively speedy regardless of the amount of programs we have running. I guess that's what it's for
...You?
I've got 4.5Gb in my G5 and 2GB in the MBPro. I must say alloting 3.7GB for photoshop and having the other close to a Gig for the system sure is SWWWEEEEETTT!
Main Windows production computer 2.5 GB.
Secondary Windows computer 2GB.
MBP maxed at 2GB.

Just to point out, the revision 2 (with Core 2 Duo) can have up to 3GB of RAM!

Sadly mine is not the Core 2. I like RAM.
i have 5GB in my G5 and 2GB in my MacBook Pro. I've never maxed out the G5's memory.
