Hi All,

I'm currently running my business out of my home (beautiful, open 3rd floor studio designed for photography and painting with studio lighting, drops, and plenty of space). My business has been word of mouth and a mail out or two during the year. My business has grown (doubled the second year, and almost the same with each year.) I have most clients returning year after year or every other year as well asnew ones all the time.

What I'm feeling most right now is that in order to drive more business, I think I will eventually need to get a location more visible to the public because right now, I'm not visible at all. I would have a studio/gallery kind of space located in a busy area with lots of walking traffic.

Has anyone left their home to locate outside the home? Has it actually driven more business to offset the extra expenses like overhead, utilities, etc.? I would love to know! unsure.gif

Thanks for your responses!!!

After 16 years in a commercial location I want to move to my home. I am tired of paying rent and I am reluctant to spend the money on fixing the space up like I would like. I don't own the building after all. Here, commercial property is really expensive.

I guess it's a case of the grass is always greener.

I would be interested to hear more comments on this also, as we are considering purchasing a commercial location. or leasing. we have been out of our home for 4 years.

Thanks, Tracy! Yes, I think sometimes the grass is greener in this situation. I really do have a great space here at home. I just wish I had more visibility especially with my paintings. Galleries take 50% of the price of paintings mad.gif , and it's sometimes hard selling thru a website. Well, good luck to you whatever you decide to do... blink.gif
