The verdict is in! Queensberry is the BEST album company in the world!

I know that this info has slipped out to a few of you but I was delaying being too public about it until I received my first batch and they came today!!! ...and WOWOWOW!

I spent two years looking for a company who's vision for service and incredibly high quality custom products matched mine, and Queensberry far exceeded anything I could have imagined!

I'm headed out to dinner but I'll be back to post up some pictures of the albums and say even more about my experience with this top class company!

Cheers,
DJ

I've been considering these albums for a while now. Can't wait to see what you have. cool.gif

DJ is it expensive to start up with them? How much do I need to get started with them?

Cheers,

Hey DJ
I'm glad you're happy with your albums and I can't wait to see the pictures. I just ordered my first album from Queensberry yesterday. I ordered the BIG one, the 24x12.
Knowing that you are overjoyed makes me even more excited about Queensberry.
Katherine
That's my album company too!

Glad you hooked up!

Hey I wasn't able to open the link you posted;however, I like your title "Darlene is super cool". SHe is my rep as well and she definitely seems extremely nice, and very helpful smile.gif Another plus to working with Queensberry Albums.

I am on the slowest computer known to man right now, which I think is my reason for not being able to open your album link dry.gif
davidjay
hmmm...it works for me...

Maybe you need to update your Quicktime Player...

...not sure if that'll do the trick but it should...it's a pretty good size file so be patient!

DJ, DJ, DJ you have done an excellent job on that lay out my friend. It is truly amazing, how you put it all together. The whole album just sings with your signature man. Outstanding!

DARLENE IS AMAZING!!! Honestly...Darlene, and Queensberry as a whole, have totally spoiled me! Their service is better than any company I've ever dealt with...and I'm not just talking about companies in the wedding industry!

I'll have more tomorrow but I gotta go sleep now...

That is it DJ, I don't even think this computer I am on has quicktime. I 'll check it with my computer tomorrow. So leave it up, I can't wait to see it smile.gif

smile.gif LOL...dude...thanks Carlos!

I had a lot of fun putting it together and the coolest thing was how quick and easy it was. I think I spent a total of 6 hours doing the whole thing and didn't even know how to use the program!

You could do this easy! Seriously...it's as simple as tossing some pics on a page in Photoshop!

I think the layout can be improved a bit and I just wanted to design it as a guide for my friend Josh who is the real master of the design/graphic world. It's funny b/c I showed it to him earlier today and he just asked "how well do you respond to criticism?"

...so it's good to hear that you liked it! :-) I like it too...but I know it can get better...just like everything else!

DJ,
I know you mentioned on the Pictage forum that you don't like flush-mount albums... Is this actually going to be a matted album with prints? If Queensberry actually gives you the flexibility to design layouts like this and then creates an actual matted album for you, I'm impressed!

You've got some really incredible shots in that album! That's really funny about Josh's response to your layout! laugh.gif Would you mind posting the final product when Josh is done?

Very nice DJ. It's really cool being able to watch it in QT with the music. Really adds to the overall effect.

You do have some amazing shots in the album.

Way Cool!

Good stuff, DJ. I'd love to see the album in person! laugh.gif

DJ,

As always....incredible work. (I'm giving up on the assumption that someday DJ will put something out that is sub par.)

You're the man!

smile.gif That's exactly what they do. It's awesome! Also, in one of the albums that they designed they showed me that they can do custom cuts for each picture...it's really sweet how they cut these two pics (I'll post up a picture) and I'm gonna really experiment and try and stretch my mind to come up with cool ways to take advantage of what they can do. The options seem to be endless!

Big D...

Queensbury is the BEST! I hooked up with them in Vegas and am looking forward to putting together a sample album soon.
i know that you charge a million dollars for your wedding packages... (which we all aspire to my friend) Ive got a question about your pricing on queensbury. do you upsell 100% or do you sell by pages? do you include albums in your basic packages or just leave them to upgrades? im wrestling with wanting to give a lot in my packages but wanting to give incentive to book bigger....
thoughts? advise?

camsauce.

BTW DJ. If this was created in QT 7 then PC users won't be able to view it yet. Apple hasn't released QT 7 for PC yet.

Just an FYI

Hey DJ!

I'm glad you posted about the QB albums. I have their sample kit sitting on my shelf - and oh, it's been there for the past two months now patiently waiting for me!

You've definitely inspired me to open it back up and seriously start putting together a sample book! I've been a huge Leather Craftsmen and Cypress Album fan but that may soon change... smile.gif

Whatever he created it in, we could look at the video, and we are pc users.... smile.gif

Ok, so I finally updated my quick time player blink.gif

Great Job David Jay smile.gif

That one will be hard to beat huh.gif

I love Queensberry. They are my Album company, and I have yet to order from them, but I'm drooling to do so.

FYI-
I just received the huge 24x12 album from Queensberry. That company is amazing! I ordered the digital 24x12 album and a smaller copy album that I really wanted to use at an upcoming bridal show (3 weeks away!). The company didn't make any promises but after many phone calls and working out the details regarding printing, I had my albums with 3 days to spare!!

The large album was definately an attention getter and I booked one bride on the spot and have 2 appointments that generated from the show. I can't say it was all because of this album but it definately kept a crowd at my table and kept people coming back.

Queensberry did an excellent job of walking me through the design process using photojunction and the ordering process. They also have an awesome online site that allowed me to track the progress of my albums production.

I've found that since this experience I have been very disappointed with my other album company. We'll see what happens in the future, but I'm thinking of going Queensberry 100% of the time.

Yeah Queensberry!!!
chriscarson
David, I just watched your QT album presentation. You are a great photographer. No doubt about it. And you also put that album together artfully.

I do have a question. It looked like a lot of shots of the bride and groom and details and scenics. It didn't seem like you put many family shots in that layout. I am in no way knocking this. Just an observation that I'm curious about.

Your work is inspirational to me as a photographer of whatever it may be.

Thanks, Chris
davidjay
Hey Chris! smile.gif Thanks for the props! and you're right about leaving out a lot of the shots that will typically end up in an album...we're also cleaning up several of the pages that were just too random and "thrown together" as our designer pointed out. biggrin.gif He's right.

This album is only going to be used to show people how customizable and creative we can be and it's not going to be given to the actual client as their final album.

We've just started allowing the clients to pick 100% of the pictures that end up in their final album! w00t.gif It's a brave move and we are strongly suggesting that they include our favorites first and then add their own but we'll see how it goes! smile.gif

That's very interesting.... I just started to STRONGLY recommend that they let ME choose the images and do the layout for them. Then I let them switch a few out here and there. It was my experience that when I left the image choices to them they would fill their favorites folder with random favorites without the storytelling aspect of an album considered. Of course they did....it just makes sense that they'd do it that way. I realized that in spite of the fact I was asking them to spend time picking THEIR favorites for the album I was pretty much overriding their choices as I started designing!

So far so good.....it's easier and quicker for me and they seem to be very pleased. It's not uncommon to hear "wow.....that page looks great and I never would have chosen those images for the album...etc...etc...."

I'll be very interested to see how it all progresses this year for both of us!

P.S. NICE work!!!! clap.gif
davidjay
smile.gif I agree with you 10,000% (and that's a lot of percent)

The book would definitely look prettier if we picked all the pictures so this is definitely kind of a test...I want to see if...

1) they take my advice about adding our favorites anyway.

2) the pictures they choose are based on moments (emotions) - creativity (artistic) - record keeping (portraits)

3) lastly, by selling our albums based on the number of prints they include this will give us the opportunity to add in tons of extra pictures, giving the album a much higher perceived value, while only minimually increasing the actual cost.

BTW - Stacey - I posted up your site on the WPJA forum under the children's thread so you might want to chime in over there (maybe you already have) because Dave and Kim are pregnant and need some good children pictures to inspire them! smile.gif

Just currently in the progress of checking Photojunction for my new albums... & found your great resource/forum... &

2 things:
1)David, I can't view your amazing album, even though upgraded to QT7... want to admire your wonderful talent & get inspired as well. Has it been removed... by now there must be a final version. - Thanks for sharing!

2) feel a little better to hear I am not the only one who prefers matted albums in the digital age... I like a modern dynmic look, but the flash albums seem more like fashion books & often overdesigned... Mats seem to add depth, to the image & event.

Enjoy the fall!
