Hello, everyone!

Rachel and I had a great time last week in Chicago shooting a Vera Wang runway show. We flew up to Chicago after shooting a wedding in Jekyll Island, Georgia.

We made it to the show with literally a few minutes to spare. We were lucky we had a lead-footed cab driver and no flight delays smile.gif

This was a high-energy event in Chicago...VERY cool.

Great job! You took the very staged event of a fashion shoot and managed to find and create images that were real, storytelling, and had some emotional impact. Excellent.

Andrew,
Amazing as always! I love the b/w here with the big poofy veil and there is a b/w in the slideshow full length from behind that is gorgeous, too. You'll be shooting Vera's NYC show soon, I'm sure.

Get some rest!

Nice work Andrew and Rachel! I like how though this was a runway shoot, you still managed to pickup all the little event details to turn this into a story! You guys are running and gunning straight from a long hectic travel schedule and pull off beautiful images!!

What an opportunity. This is great guys. Looks like fun and the photos are incredible. Love the lighting!!! The colors throughout the night are very intimate and inviting. What lens is that with the Asian model looking away from the camera in photograph #8.

Thanks, Cory...it was a challenge to keep the models from modelling for the camera smile.gif

That is the very slow-to-autofocus, low-light Wunderlens, Canon 85 1.2.

Thanks everybody for your comments smile.gif

I neglected to mention that my lovely wife, Rachel, is responsible for about half these pix. wub.gif

WOW---stunning!!!

At events like this do you shoot with a flash??

Also, with all the guest and such what f-stop do you tend to shoot as most to get the best quality...esp. with such the low light factor??
Carole Foret
dancingbanana.gif Fantastic!! What an incredible opportunity. Your work/style is timeless...
Scarlett Lillian
Ooooh fun. I think I like the last one the best in the way that it shows the motion of walking the catwalk!
cinematicbride-Josh

The photos that I posted on OSP (at the begininng of this post) were all shot available light (with very fast prime lenses) except for the shot of the 4 models from the back. I bounced flash off the wall for that image.

When the quality of available light in a space is good, as it was at this event, we try to shoot with available light.

Hey Josh,

I noticed you're from Monroe, LA.

Have you ever shot a wedding at First Presbyterian there?
