Full Version: Where's the Groom?
OpenSourcePhoto > Who We Are :-) > We lived!

I assisted my friend in shooting a wedding last week in a victorian bed and breakfast venue. I was assigned the Groom and his guys. When I arrived the primary shooter was busy with the Bride so I asked someone where the Groom was and they pointed to a door nearby. So, I knock and introduce myself and tell him I'm going to take a few shots while he finishes up geting ready. He thinks it's great and starts saying how great it is that he gets to stay overnight at this place while I'm wondering why the honeymoon suite is so small? Well, about 10 minutes and a few shots later I realize he's NOT the Groom! I felt like such an idiot! I found the real Groom and got the shots and lived to tell about it.

close call! as a second shooter last year I had a similar moment when I began photographing a bride who made a very quiet entrance down the hallway and had a rather ... simple ... white wedding gown. She arrived ready? I thought she was getting ready at the church but shot at a distance to let her interact with the groomsman waiting my the door.

She had a great smile but... there was something odd when she started acting flirty with the groomsman... very odd... like I had captured the bride's stunt double. They talked about going to a homecoming game that weekend and I knew I had confused myself. A cackle of laughter down the hall confirmed my mistake as the bride had just put on her dress and the gals were in awe. I had, in fact, met the groomsman's sweetheart dressed in white.

It was in moments of my blunder that I was glad that I wasn't supposed to be in with the bride and knew I needed stronger coffee before an early shoot.

good save! eB

Well if it makes you feel any better...we have a hotel up here in SF called the Fairmont...I know, there all over the place.

anyways, I was coming down after the ceremony to the cocktail hour, and I start shooting and then wonder...where is the bride and groom?...They were on the other SIDE of the hotel! Arrrgggh!

Come to find out there was 4 weddings going on at the same time in this freaking place...Talk about a factory and ma-ham...guests were confused, going to the wrong wedding/reception, photographers were lost...Heck, I needed a map for the different events happening at the same place.

Top it off, it was during the time up here in SF where ALL the hotel workers were striking, so as I leave, I get booed and hissed...Talk about a day...Im glad that day was over. wacko.gif
