Full Version: Shooting Tethered....Hybrid Network

Hi folks,

Let me explain my current situation and then ask a few questions. I now have a PC in the lobby of my studio (which runs Photo One), another PC in the Meeting Room (which runs the slideshows for customers to view before ordering (but after seeing printed proofs for about a week), I also have an iMac in the office manager's office which uses a few external HD's for all image files (and is backed up nightly) and I have an iMac upstairs in my office.

Normally, I shoot out in the yard or camera room on CF cards (the cam. room used to be a detatched two car garage). I then bring in the cards to either my iMac or the office iMac for processing. We use an ethernet network system for the four machines mentioned.

My thoughts are: I would like to start shooting tethered to an iBook on a camera stand. The iBook would utilize the built in wireless LAN to connect to either of the two iMacs and just drop the files in the appropriate folder as I shoot.

I hope this makes sense...

My questions are: Do the iMacs tether easily to the MK II Ds? Does anyone else shoot tethered? If so, are there any obstacles I can avoid or anticipate? I'm sure I'll have more questions later but that's all I can think of for now.

Thanks,
RW

Rob....

I got your back.. I use to work for a large commercial studio in which we did the same thing. Exept it was IMacs and there was 6 stations. We would shoot over the network too... We used Capture One Pro by PhaseOne.... I am not familiar with your software but with C1 it can be done with no problems...

I still use C1 on commercial gigs... I hope this helps...

although i don't shoot tethered often, i have tested the tethered shooting ability on my macs using canon's eos capture software, and it works grrrreat.
