Ok, so I know you all know the magic of slideshows already, but with my transition from video to now photo, I'm still learning how just darn cool they really are in thrilling our brides and grooms.

Yesterday I shot an e-session in downtown Jacksonville. The couple met in NYC and wanted to recreate the "urban city" feel to their pictures. With Jacksonville not being anything close to a big city like NYC, I knew it would be a challenge, but we ended up actually getting some great pictures of undiscovered architecture I wasn't even aware existed in my hometown. Then a few hours ago, I sent her an email telling her the pics were up on my blog and I just got this wonderful email back as a testiment to slideshows:

Scarlett,

Once again i'm wowed by your work. You just don't know how ecstatic I felt when I saw the photos. The slideshow was even better with the music and everything. YOU DID AN AWESOME JOB. Give yourself a pat on the back from the both of us. Rob has not seen it yet, but as soon as he gets home I'll show him. I have a feeling he'll be super happy.

Looking at these photos make me even more excited about our wedding photos. Now I'm wishing September was tomorrow.

Thanks for a fun time!!

And then it was so cute, they started a blog for their wedding, and she's already done two entries of her favorite pictures because she can't decide which ones she likes best. Anyways, just had to share my excitement, because it's due to all of YOU and how thankful I am for how much you have taught me along the way! THANK YOU! And of course, thanks DJ for the awesome product you provide us all to exceed our clients expectations!

Here's a few of my favorites, and more with the slideshow can be found on my blog.

Congrats Scarlett, happy cleints are the best! All of these are great, but that last one is my absolute favorite! Not sure why, the angle and their pose just works with the background, great stuff! Were all of these taken with a fisheye?
stephanie
oh cute! I love the escalator one. Great rave, too!
Jero
Well, after looking at your photos, no wonder why they are happy. Your photos are just awesome! The colours, lighting and perspective are fantastic. I like them all.

Yeah most of it was fisheye. Rob has a real passion for architecture, so the fisheye was a great way to get the tall buildings into the picture with them. I switched to my 85 1.8 for a few other pics in the slideshow, but for the most part, it was fisheye! I love that lens!

Thanks girl! That was my fave one too! I was afraid they would think the idea was cheezy, but they loved it! It sure gave them a work out too!

Hi Scarlett... Love all of them. Great job, I've been trying for months to convince some of my brides to do their engagements here in downtown Miami.... EVERYONE wants the beach for some reason. ohh well. Your shots and angles were great.

Ha ha... yeah I can imagine the beach is popular. I've been surprised, I thought more couples would want the beach too, but I've had more inland requests for esessions. A lot of weddings on the beach though!

Great job. How great that you discovered some new spots too. I wish there was some type of guide of cool places for photographers to take pictures for each city. When ever I leave it totally up to the couple they usually pick the beach or a park which gets old fast. What a gorgeous couple. And how nice of her to express her feelings with you. Hopefully she'll tell all of her friends as well.

Scarlett, you did a great job of managing the fish... that lens can be really gimmicky, but you managed to use it over and over, and it worked.

I actually love the B&W where they are looking at the camera.. they look so cute!

Awww, thanks Amber. I like my particular fish eye because it doesn't distort things too much, just kind of gives it a nice flair. And yeah, I was thinking of you with the black and white ones. thumbsup.gif As much as I love color, I do also love the emotion that can be found in a picture through black and white when you strip the color away.

They are awesome (as always!) and that escalator shot is the bomb!!! Please tell me that it was not running and that y'all didn't have to time that just right???

You are so right about slideshows. They have brought me so much business - I can't imagine not using them.

Wow, thanks Stacy for the double comments. You are awesome! Yeah, I still feel like I'm trying to find my style sometimes. Especially with each couple being such different personalities, while trying to keep a consistent style. But I'm glad to see others are recognizing it. I guess sometimes when we are so closely involved, we don't see it for ourselves.

Thanks! Yeah I went a few days before to scout out potential places, but I also loved finding spots spontaneously. With Rob's eye for architecture, he actually came up a lot of great ideas, like the one with the church in the reflection of the window. He totally spotted that one and wanted to try it. They were an awesome couple, I love when they give so much feedback because I like to incorporate what THEY like rather than always coming up with the ideas.

LOLOLOL. Believe it or not, it WAS running. And it was the very first shot we went for during the session. I honestly didn't think they would go for it, so I just casually asked "I know we haven't really started yet, but any chance you guys would be up for going on the escalator, one going up, one going down and kissing in the middle?" And they enthusiastically said HECK YEAH! They really were such an awesome couple. It's nice to find "out of the box" couples who get my "out of the box" thinking.

Oh my gosh, thank you so much for pointing that out! I didn't even notice that. Funny how your eye can overlook something until someone points it out and suddenly that's alllllll you see!

Weird though it's on that pictures and not the others. So maybe it was just some dust on the lens from having taken it out of my coat pocket at the time. I'll check the sensor too though. THANK YOU!

I absolutely LOVE them all as usual  and I am in love with that fisheye lens. It bends the images without making them look too fishy. Which one is it?

Check the aperture of the photo. If it is 8+ you can see more dust then if lens is wide open.

I just spent the month of January in Florida before going to the Elevate seminar in Orlando. Actually I was down for Thanksgiving, went to the Philippines to visit college friends between the holidays and was back for Christmas.
My sister had a baby Dec. 29th - big event as you can imagine. I'll be back at Easter for a week to see my adorable nephew! wub.gif But I'm there a lot, even more than I was when I worked on the Hill and had tons of vacation and Federal holidays. thumbsup.gif

I graduated from Ed White, on the Westside. My grandmother lives in Mandarin though. I went to college in KY so I haven't lived in Florida for many years. Where do you go to church? I was church shopping in January and fell in love with River City Church. I can't wait to be there to go back!
