is there a benifit for palcing a paragraph of key words near thebottom of a page? such as cites and type of work you do?

thanks
Phil P
In terms of search engine rankings, yes, because it'll include keywords people search for. Any text will make your page more relevant for searches.

At the same time, it looks kinda weird. Most people will hide it in their HTML somewhere or make it not visible to a website viewer.

Beware of that tactic, though, since it can get you on search engine blacklists. Hiding text is considered engine spamming, and is a big no-no. I just put all my text under a noframes tag, which is technically legal smile.gif

Thereby negating the effects of the words, as Google has caught onto this practice some time ago, and penalizes sites that do this.

Just a heads up for ya.

Your best bet is to just use a few words that make sense when read. At least a little sense. Look at the bottom of the pages on our site. Also look at the titles of the pages there. These keywords are very effective. So much so that I've found that at least one local photographer has pretty much copied all the keywords and the layout of that section. She also copied the titles. It kind of upsets me, but I'm going to let it slide for other reasons.

thanks...How in depth should get. I have seen Kevins Swans site and he has most of the states listed. Should I be typing in every area with a name in my area or more genral for the region..

I have been looking into this too. I am going to make my home page descriptive with lots of text that the search engines will like. This along with a photo or something that they click to "ENTER" my main site. It seems like the best of both worlds.
