Ok,
so it seems the post about shooting to help someone out has either left everyone's mind, or everyone lied about how substitute shooting should go....
so, I'm offering $450 plus hotel costs to a second (& more- than- likely- substitute) photographer for Sept. 29 & Oct. 6.
9/29 is in Spartanburg - up to 12 hours of coverage-- and I receive all images, as I'm continuing to honor my contract with them)...
10/6 is at Table Rock State Park (NC/SC border), again, for up to 12 hours of shooting, and I still get the images.

pm me if interested.

I don't think it's fair to say that people lied about helping people. I help people whenever I can with 2nd shooting and I have had OSPers 2nd shoot with me as well.

What you are wanting is an entirely different story. It doesn't sound like you are wanting someone to help you. It sounds like you want someone to shoot the wedding for you for free while you keep all the money. And you expect them to give you advance notice and give up a weekend that they could potentially book.

Nevermind. I've got it covered.
Bellissima
just my $0.02.

what i think i would do is, return the retainer and help the couple find another photog, and then let the couple contract the new photog under their (the new photog) terms.

this is how it would work if for some reason we had to breech our agreement this far in advance.

thank you for your input, Robin... I sincerely appreciate it, as I had no idea what to do in that situation, and your advice helps a great deal.

I agree with Jill - I don't think that anyone lied about it, and another thing to think about is that a lot of relationship building typically occurs between photographers before they willing to shoot for free for someone else...
I am glad you got it covered though . Congratulations on your new baby! smile.gif

Just to let you know Amy I paid a girl which shot a wedding for me as a lead photographer $900 for 5 hours and I ended up releaving her after I bridged over from another wedding. As far as second shooting I pay something resonable and agree that I will second for them for the same price. Paying a lead photographer and second photographer is totally different. I know you are getting frustrated but hang in there. Something will come through.
