How to get Bridge Presets into Lightroom

Ok so I've been playing with Lightroom 1.0 for about a week and a half now, and it's really neat. So far as I have found theres no direct way to convert your Adobe Bridge presets to Lightroom. If anyone knows of a preset import feature I couldn't find then shout it out.

however there is a back door method that will work. I just finished the article, and it's posted on Pro Photography Show. I was going to copy it here, but there are screenshots and such to make it easy so you'll be better off to just go to the PPS article and it will explain it all.

I was able to get Brilliant Bridge Settings, into Lightroom in a fairly short time. So far they seem to be working as they should. If anyone runs into any hitches that my article does not cover let me know. Gav thumbsup.gif

I am not familiar with Bridge...as I don't have PS...what is the difference between Bridge presets and LR presets?

Gavin Seim
They do the same thing, it's just that there nor directly compatible with each other so you have to get them transfered over.

I got a PM the other day about how to move the image library location.

Here's an article that will show you how to change the Lightroom library location if anyone else needs to know.

LOL, I found this one out by accident. I imported around 300 images from my USB Flash drive. Then I removed the drive. Was trying to work on them until I got errors on all 300 images. Tried finding them in the Library but they couldn't be found. Plugged the Flash drive back and and then realized I can finally work on the images.

Bridge will work with Lightroom. Just make sure you check ALWAYS WRITE XMP (in your prefs) and your settings will come in just fine.

You'll also need the latest ACR 3.7 to see any adjustments Lightroom.

Right, what I meant was that the presets aren't directly compatible. Thankfully the xmp settings are, ot this whole process would not be possable. By being able to read xmp settings in Lightroom, we can us them to get the presets switched over.

You bet David. Glad you like the show. Keep an eye on the blog as well, as I'm working on posting more news and updates between shows. If anyone wants to do some writing for the PPS blog let me know. I could really use a Nikon junky
