So I had to go out and buy the 70-200 VR! dancingbanana.gif

Seroiusly, I have been looking to upgrade to the 70-200 anyway. I was planning on buying it before my Wedding season starts again in May. So, I got it out last night and started playing with it. Amazing! I was shooting at ss that I would have never been able to hand hold before! Here are some dorkey pictures of my kids while I was testing it.

So, do you guys do that when you get new equipment? (Take dorkey pictures around your house?) I won't show you the images I took of the coffe pot and the chandelier, and the cup of pop....

Now, I am not sure what to do with my old lens... it is pretty beat up, but worked beautiful until it broke. The aperature wont stop down correctly. It looks like it needs a new spring or something to make the aperture work properly. Should I sell it as is on ebay, or send it in for repair and then sell it? Like I said, it is pretty beat up, but worked great before it broke!

Ummmm... Ya. I do that with new equipment, old equipment, pretty much every day (and especially before a shoot to test everything out).

People on Ebay will buy anything... just give an honest description and sell it. ;-)

I had an 80-200 that broke. It had a screw that came loose inside it and I tried to fix it... Yeah, dont do that. wink.gif

I took it to a small, family-owned camera shop and they fixed and refurbished it and I sold it as such. Cost about $85 or so and I believe that I really came out ahead when I sold it on ebay (working equipment attracts a much broader market than broken stuff!)

Thanks guys, I have an email into Nikon right now to ask for an estimate on fixing it.

I always liked the blurry background quality at 2.8 on the 80-200 (I rented it a few times, but it had gone out of production and I had to buy the 70-200). I'd get it fixed if it's not too expensive.
