Tomorrow I head to Dallas for
FW5 and I think this is the most nervous I've been in a long time (I'm breaking out from the stress!) ALMOST as nerve-wrecking as my piano juries in college, minus the need for beta blockers. This will be the first time my work has been seriously scrutinized and critiqued by someone other than my friends, family, and clients. I'm absolutely thrilled about the opportunity so I'm not really scared as much as I'm just facing something like performance anxiety (which is why I could never be a soloist musician!) I know I'm in good hands and among great company.... just can't seem to get rid of these butterflies...

Taking criticism can be tough, regardless of the source and the circumstances. Someone once shared this tidbit with me and it's been helpful to put things in perspective and cut down on the flight/fight anxiety response: Feedback is a gift
Have a wonderful time at the workshop!

Relax. You'll be fine.
Whenever I had something big come up, like a TV appaearance, or a speech, I just tell myself that it is my turn to shine and I try to do just that. I may shine, or maybe not, but I try and everything turns out fine.
I've seen your work, you really shouldn't be nervous.
Best,
k.c.

Anne,
I am excited for you!!
You will rock in Dallas, you know you will...
If you still get nervous imagine everyone in the room naked and with a heavy spanish accent - it works for me everytime!

Anne - I am jealous! I am sure you will do just fine - Huy seems like such a great guy, and the others as well. I wish I could have gone, but not in the budget for this year! Hopefully we will get to see you in Vegas! Good luck with FW5!

Had a wedding today (assisted by Bill Holland and Sergio). Tomorrow, I have a meeting and an engagement shoot before I can enjoy meeting y'all at the opening party.

Anne- you will be fine! Your work is great, you have no worries.
A good critique will get you to push yourself and will evalute your technique but should never steer you in a direction away from your style. I'm sure that is what you will find. You will be fine.

It was aaaaaaaaaawesome!! I was also super nervous and it got worse when Huy told me Saturday night that I was supposed to present a slideshow.
Davina and Anne, you two were super sweet and I will never forget you. Anne, I owe you a portrait session. I am sorry I ran out of time and could not make it to shoot you on assignment.

That's OK. I'm going to make a new title for myself... "Elusive Anne"

Even in the company of many photographers at OSP Indy, I still managed to escape fairly unphotographed.

Sergio - you're awesome and I totally dig your energy and enthusiasm! I'm so glad I was able to meet you and I hope some day I can work with you in order to get a little Sergio magic to rub off on me!
