After meeting some really cool people at OSP West, I finally decided to stick my toes in the water... here I am in cyberspace, is anybody out there?

Anyone have any savvy advice on quitting one's dayjob and going photo all the way?

i didn't get to go to OSP West...

the only advice i can give is... talk talk talk...talk to everyone on the planet and let them know who you are, what you do and spread the word.

meet with everyone in every nook and cranny and let them know you are in the business...my rule with buzz(& all you buzzers can correct me...) is spread the buzz.

I was a bit hesitant to go to OSP West, but it was so worth it to come out of my comfort zone!  I came home inspired and with the knowledge that in order to take the dream to the next level, I must fully commit to it.

I am negotiations with the husband unit regarding a possible foray to Vegas for the big convention in March.  He can gamble while I network...

Well, after hearing Robin preach the truth about marketing at OSP West, I am ready to start researching my target market and to really re-think how I am currently running my small business.  I will be working on writing a business plan and all that jazz.  Any good resources out there on how to do all that jazz?

You should get in touch with some of us AZ photogs and start networking with us. There are a number of steps to take in order to wisely leave your employment, but you shouldn't be too hasty. It is best to establish a foundation in the market and build up a savings for security should things get a little tough. But you can get lots of encouragement and advice by getting connected with other shooters here. It's a great network in Phoenix.

And Robin has available some simple resources to get you started in developing a biz plan. You can contact her, or I can get them to you also.
