Hi:) It's me again. What do y'all think of the Blogger Header I made. Part of me thinks I suck at graphic design and the other part of me kinda likes it. We are still in the process of deciding on a logo so that part will probably change, but what do you think of the header? Be harsh, I can take it!

Becca, it's too wide for my screen. I have to scroll horizontally to see it all. (My screen resolution is 1024x768.)

It looks great, but a bit too big for my screen, but the images are wonderful. Now how did you do that. I am trying to figure it out but can't designate the amount of time for trial and error. Would love a quick answer to that question. Thanks!! Your work by the way is awesome. Would love to have been that good with studio work.

Becca...I've been following your post about getting this up, as I've been want to customize mine too.
Unfortunately, mine won't let me remove the title, even though it will accept the photo.
How did you get yours to remove the title???

I looked at yours ....and I love it, but it still seems rather large compared to the rest of the site.

Thanks
Jen

Hey Jennifer! I had that problem at first too...and this has taken me half the day so I really can't even remember all that I have done. But, I think that when it finally removed the original title that we had, it was because i had entered the URL (see previous post about how-to) in the Blog TITLE instead of DESCRIPTION like Jason had suggested. Also, I kept putting in the URL with one letter that was wrong (it was supposed to be capitalized) and that was keeping it from working and kept the original title up there. Hope that helps!

Becca, you're right! It worked....why didn't I think of that.
Thank you.

Are you going to resize yours??
I'm surprised it ended up so big.
Did you size it in photoshop to the 650 x 79 px's????

I do love it though.
I'm not nearly talented enough to do one like that!
I love all the different photos.

Thanks again
Jen

I actually did not do the 650x79 b/c i thought it was way too small! Maybe i should have stuck with it. The first one I posted was something like 1150x500, and now it's like 900x300andsomething. Do you think i should switch back to the 650x79 size???

Sweet!

It looks good!
My .02 cents is really personal preference. I like one image highlighted instead of many (see my blog)- but the collage concept works well. J. Claire does it!

Yeah, I definitely was influenced by her...but hers is not as busy as I made this one. It probably is too much.

Well, you can check out mine.
If you think it's too small, then you can go bigger, but at least you'll know what the 650 x79 looks like.

its: http://jenniferimages.blogspot.com
Now I'm wondering if mine should be bigger???

I really like it!! It looks so dramatic even if it is so small.

sis, love it... but agree with others that it is too big... dd

i like it!

Yeah, you changed the tag in the template where it said title to the location of your header image- you might want to change that back (I don't remember what the correct tag is).

I do really like the header! Very cool- maybe just a little smaller?

On my blogger blog I started to just change the header, and ended up redoing the whole thing! Now it looks just like my website smile.gif

If you have issues with changing the title tag back, let me know.

My .02, it looks great but does seem a bit to busy, what do you think of just using the lower half?
GETanEDGE
Really cool Jeff.
I've gotta figure out how you did that.

Thanks! Yeah, I love the functionality of blogger, but really wanted to figure out a way to keep it looking like my website. Now, if only they allowed Javascript, I'd be set!

Looks good!

I'd just remove the css from the template about the header: (remove this)

#header {
margin: 25px;
border: 1px solid $bordercolor;
text-align: center;
color:$pagetitlecolor;
background-image: url('http://www.laurakelleyphotography.com/me/banner.jpg');
width:650px;
height:160px;
}

And then right before the <body> tag add in something like:

<center><a href="http://whateverwebsiteyouwanttheimagetolinkto.com"><img src="http://www.laurakelleyphotography.com/me/banner.jpg" border="0" alt="Your name here"></a></center>

PS: I LOVE the pic on the far right...classic
lmkelley
what is the css?? Sorry I am getting further than I ever thought I would get with html but I am still slow.

Oops I search css and deleted just that and oh my the whole thing was different and no black, and no header that I made. Oops.
I told you very very slow.

I looked at the preview and it looks great. But on the website, not so good.

In the template that you're editing within Blogger: All the stuff that looks like this--

#header {
margin: 25px;
border: 1px solid $bordercolor;
text-align: center;
color:$pagetitlecolor;
background-image: url('http://www.laurakelleyphotography.com/me/banner.jpg');
width:650px;
height:160px;
}

The #header tells the browser that this style is called "Header" and wherever the browser sees to use the style "Header" it does what you list after the header tag. The reason the image is off center is because the header tag needs to be included within the body tag, I think...I don't know, I'm not so good with CSS. That's why I just gave you the HTML solution.

It is skippy but thought it would be cool, but don't know if blogger allows that.....
lmkelley
Thanks so much Jeff. I appreciate all your suggestions and help. Thanks
lmkelley
Oh I think I really like yours Jeff how it doesn't have that blogger stuff on the top of the page. Is there a way to do that for me?
