Sunday I had a shoot with my good friend Linette. We have been planning this for a while and while things went a little differently than planned but we had a great shoot. Her good friend Erin came by with her baby Stella to do Linettes hair in a vintage 50's style hairdo. I shoot film so I am still waiting for that to be processed and scanned but in the mean time I wanted to share a couple prep shots I got with the digital.
This is Stella just hanging out while mommy does hair

She was the happiest baby I have ever met!

Linette goofing off

Her dog Cappy decided to check things out, he loves bubble baths.

That baby is a DOLL! And I love her hair and makeup... it's such a crazy contrast to the bath. Can't wait to see your film shots!

You are not alone. I have posted images and have asked for feedback and/or help with things, and I don't get many replies. Oh well...I thought this was the forum for niiiiice people!

Ramiro,

I think it IS a forum for niiiccee people, but it's getting so big that threads fall by the wayside faster than they used to. I know I've posted before, hoping to get some help/cc, but had very few people respond. Don't worry that there's some reason people aren't posting (that they don't like you or your work or your questions....can you tell I've given this some thought? wink.gif I wondered the same thing before.) Just bump the thread, 'cause 9 times out of 10 it's just that someone who may be interested/helpful may have just missed it. smile.gif

Joy, these are great. Ah, isn't it great when you get a subject who will pose like this for you? wub.gif And that baby is TOO cute!

Ginger,

I understand about the posts that scroll off of the "View New Posts" page too quickly. My disappointment comes from those threads I have started, especially those where I am asking for CC or help, and they get 70 or 80 views but only 1 or 2 replies.

For example this thread has 111 views and only 2 inputs, 'cuz the other 2 are mine.

And I could dig up other threads where I have either initiated the post or asked a question in a post, but no answers. I have also PM'd a couple of people here with a question and not even the PM's were answered. To my knowledge, I haven't offended anyone or upset anyone. I know that sometimes I'll go into a thread to see what it is about and if it's not something I can contribute to then I look for other threads, and I know that could be the case with my threads...but what is interesting is that it's not on some threads, it's on most of my threads.

As for OSP getting big, I understand that. But I thought this is a forum with an emphasis on wedding and portrait photography, since the vast majority here focus on those 2 areas, and yet when I have posted about portraits or wedding images, for the most part they go ignored.

Don't get me wrong, I love OSP. I have said it in the past, I would not know what I know if it weren't for some of the most wonderful people here that don't hesitate to share what they know. It's just a little frustrating when I learn something from someone here, then I try to execute it, and I come here for feedback to improve and get better but for the most part the request for CC gets ignored.

Joy, sorry to threadjack.

I can understand. I've had a thread or two go virtually unnoticed, too. It is frustrating sometimes to see so many folks look but not reply. I'm not sure what's holding them back. I can only assume that they just don't have the time or feel that they don't have anything to contribute. I can totally understand the former, but the latter is not true. We all have something to contribute, even if we are just starting out. I hope that people will be braver and start posting. BTW, I really like the attempt you made at light-painting. I think it came out well, just a bit of 'shadow' on her face, but overall thumbsup.gif . What did they think when you whipped out the flashlight and told them to "sit really still"? smile.gif I used to photograph on backdrops at weddings, too. It was just what was done. I can't speak for Nathan, but I imagine what drives him nuts is that it is such a non-photojournalistic look on a day filled with many, many 'real' moments. I know that some couples really prefer the look though, so there probably will continue to be a demand for wedding day portraits like this.

End threadjack! Thanks. \

Terrific setting and gorgeous hair and makeup! I'm looking forward to seeing what you did on film. These are great storytelling images, I want to see more that emphasize the pregnancy. thumbsup.gif

wow I guess I stirred something up. ohmy.gif OSP can be very overwhelming and there is no way to look at everything if you have a life. I too am guilty at looking without responding and will have to make a better effort.

Yeah these were just some fun out takes between changing rolls of film. And stuff that I don't feel strange about showing strangers.

I hope the film looks good and I am hoping the bubbles don't look to weird in conjuntion with the belly.
Song4themoon
love the tub shots!
BLA BLA BLA
Great idea with the tub shots
Great lighting over all very cool and different from the normal belly shots
The second shot of the kid is just perfect love it love it love it…

I love the idea of the tub shots

I am not a dig fan of the first shot she looks uncomfortable to me.

And Joy I post stuff and sometimes it never even gets a look so don't feel bad some people are just lookers and some people will tell you what they think.
