(My poor kids are the freaks in class who have custom valentine's cards, complete with their photos, and a personal message from Becca or Riley. We are silly, and I'm sure some of you photog moms and dads do the same.)

So! This year, I went to order through ROES, and noticed a new option, PEARL. On a whim I got my kids cards on pearl, and I was AMAZED at the results when UPS dropped them off yesterday.
They are quite unlike metallic prints, as they are not glossy, and are instead on a very silky, heavy cardstock, but the highlights have a very delicate, fine powdery glisten.
They have a somewhat vintage appearance that I cannot put my finger on. My staff and I huddled around the two sets of cards for a good 10 minutes, just gawking at the amazing finish and feeing of the cards.

Wow, thanks for the tip. I saw that option when I ordered cards last week and called WHCC to ask about it. Their description made it sound like a metallic, which I knew I didn't want. But YOUR description makes it sound great. Gotta try some now!

Does WHCC deliver to us up here in no man's land though? I seem to recall being told at Imaging USA that they don't deliver to Canada, but maybe I'm confusing them with someone else.

I don't know how photos of the actual product would translate, but I can show you the kids' cards!!

After seeing some of the amazing prints that Carrie had in her studio from WHCC in November, I finally got around to requesting samples/test prints from them, and they were AWESOME. Even my less-than-great photos (I sent a variety of pics for the samples, so I could see the range of things) looked pretty darn good (to me, anyway). I'll have to see if they included the Pearl in the sample pack, too.

It's under "press printed products" catalog. You have to select a card size first, I think.

I have to agree with you 100%. We got back some postcards last week and I just loved them! We added them to our price list that day!

Carrie, I had some 5x5 cards to order and chose the pearl for my 2008 pricing cards (based on your recommendation)and they are AMAZING! The finish is hard to describe..kind of 3 dimensional like the metallic but more of a powdery satin finish. They are so so nice! Everyone order these...they are SO GOOD!!

I just ordered some wide format 5x7 cards as a marketing mailer, it's pretty cool. Not what I quite expected, it definitely has a mother of pearl, powdery finish, it's not metallic or shiny at all. I really really like it. I plan on doing my 2008 pricing with it.

I need to see it on an actual print ... a big one. I got my postcards done in pearl and hated them -- threw them right out. But, not giving up on it yet ..I just need to remember to order something big with my next lab order.

I need a little clarification about these prints. Are these done on a photographic paper, or are these printed on a cardstock. I would love to see some of your guys pricelists when you get them.

This is a paper for press printed products..not photo paper. Think bookmarks, folded cards, postcards, etc...

I'll have to give them a try! I've got some mailers I need to make....

I also opted for WHCC's pearl paper for my senior rep cards and I was floored! This is quality and its different.
