Just wanted to give a big THANK YOU to the LaCour team for an awesome first day of their workshop. Andrew, Rachel, Mark and Erin are so giving and caring. I learned so much from them both in the workshop and just having one on one time with them today. Tomorrow we are going to get to see their incredible lighting techniques. As a special bonus surprise, DJ is coming to share his marketing presentation.

If you have even considered coming to their April workshop, SIGN UP NOW!!!! www.lacourphoto.net

I sat next to Patty today, so I will definitely let her know you said, "Hi", eh. It was 60 degrees Fahrenheit here today until the minus 40 C back home.

Regina, small world isn't it?!

Regina, thanks for your encouraging comments! You too Garrett! Our plan was to post a blog entry every night of the workshop, but so far there hasn't been any time! We have an amazing group here that has engaged us in some lively discussions. We're looking forward to the ballroom lighting demonstration this evening and a good dinner out at Atlanta restaurant Ecco. Thanks to DJ for coming over to join in the fun!

<----- jealous!

I love that LaCour has a good balance of passion and business. It seems like a lot of people are all of one or the other. I think these were lost in the crash.... I'll post them to my photolovecat.com blog as well....

Yet another awesome day at the LaCour workshop. We got to see Andrew demonstrate their signature lighting techniques in the Biltmore Ballroom this evening. So amazing! Mark and Erin put on their wedding duds and danced for us. It was so cool seeing Erin's dress in person - absolutely gorgeous! Mark is quite the dancer. I promise to post photos very soon. We just got in from a fantastic dinner that included special guests DJ and Denis Reggie.

These guys seriously have raised the bar for workshops. We got here and had a get together at their studio. They gave us goody bags with notes about our work and websites - a very special personal touch. We started at 7 p.m. at their studio on Sunday. Monday, they were at the hotel with us from 9 a.m. until after midnight. Tuesday, they were here from 9 a.m. and after a short break for them to set up the ballroom, they just finished up again around midnight. They are going to be exhausted by Thursday afternoon. Erin wasn't kidding about them not having time to blog! They have hardly taken time to sleep.

I got to have lunch with Katie Torres during the break today. It was great seeing her and getting to hang out. The new haircut looks fab even with the pouring rain.

Charles,

We are going at least 14 hours a day here at the workshop. When I get to my room after 11 p.m., editing images is not happening. Rachel said they were planning on blogging each day but they just haven't had time either.

DAY 3 - We learned how to work the LaCour magic in post production and edit to tell the story. Seriously cool stuff! Then, DJ gave his new presentation on emotion. It was so cool to see the reaction of photographers that have never seen ShowIt Web. There was a lot of buzz going on this evening about doing slideshows. We had a Krispy Kreme Valentine's break this afternoon. Thanks to LaCour for sharing some doughnut love. We finish up tomorrow afternoon and then Rachel and Andrew can get some rest. Mark and Erin have already left to go to a marathon 3 day Indian wedding.

Such an awesome time! These guys rock!

Wow...LaCour looks like they are going to restore some ROI respectability in quality photo education workshops (which I think has taken a hit recently with the "it will change your life" over-promise-under-deliver photo education pandemic that seems to have been running it's course over the last year or so).

Keep up the posts...we want to hear more specifics about the LaCour magic. thumbsup.gif

Dan,

I have been to a few workshops now, watched some DVDs and been to 2 Pictage PartnerCons. LaCour put on an excellent 4 day workshop that I feel has made me a much better photographer. Plus, everyone was treated so fabulously by them. They really gave up 4 full days to spend with 20 photographers. The way that they run their business is outstanding and just that part alone is worth mentioning, then throw in their signature lighting techniques and post production and it was an amazing 4 days.

Yeah, there are a lot of photographer making money off other photographers and not all of it is merited and photographers keep eating it up and spending money. I can honestly say that I did not feel sold to at all nor did I buy anything while I was there. It 100% did not compare to these tours that the whole purpose is to get you to buy the product. I also know that 10 months after I attended Denis Reggie's workshop, I am charging 3x as much as I was then and that is going to go to 4x very soon.

I've only been home a few hours so I haven't mastered the image toning, but Mark is quite the dancer!
