New to the forum. Just wanted to say hello to everyone. I started my photography business part-time a little over 2 years ago. Hope to go full-time within the next 18 months. I shoot mostly portraits and event (weddings) but I like to shoot extreme sports whenever I get the chance. I live in Japan for 13 years and moved to Orlando in 95. There a great deal of talent in this group. Looking forward to participating.

Alan,
Welcome to the forum! I grew up in Japan - lived there for about 10 years. Do you speak the language?

I used to speak Japanese but have forgotten almost all of it since I came back to the states. I loved my time there and miss it sometimes.
I like your work BTW.

Hello Alan, it's nice to have you here. I'm half Japanese myself, but I have not been to Japan yet, but I hope to go soon. I bet you have a bunch of sweet pictures from there... Nathan too...

Hi Josh and Nathan,
Not as many as I wish I had. Funny how you take for granted the culture and beauty around you when you live there. I visted last year with my wife (who is also half Japanese) and I think I took more during that 2 week trip than I did the last two years I lived there. Her parents live in Okinawa.
Lesson learned.... Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today.

Oh hey Alan...I forgot to ask you what you shoot with? I just got a 20d like a couple of weeks ago with a 24-70 lens and my 70-200 IS lens is en route! LLLOVE my 20d...my husband says I'm having an affair with it because all I do is click click click and don't pay attention to him anymore!!!

I shoot with a Nikon D70 and D100. Until I can afford the 70-200VR my favorite lense is a 24-85 2.8. Hoping to upgrade both my bodies and lenses next year. Note to self: "Need to Book more Weddings:-)"

Finally . . . another OSP member from Central Florida! What does that makes the score now . . . 100 West Coast members, 5 Central States members and 3(??) East-Coasters? Anyways, it's something like that.
Welcome, Alan! What part of town are you in?

Hey Brian,
I'm in Oviedo. Over by UCF. Nice to finally talk to you.
I've seen your work online. Very nice.
After 2 years in business I'm realizing how much I still have to learn. Then I read about Gary Fong's new prices and realize how good life can be:-) Way to go GF:-)

Welcome Alan!
Always nice to have another Nikon photographer. I think Nathan (Nikongeek) and I the only ones. I'm looking at going digital, but for right now I'm shooting with an N60. I'm hoping within the next months I can make the switch to the D70.
Can't wait to see some of your work and I hope you don't mind me asking you for tips once I get my D70!

Thanks Gregg and Leanne.
Gregg - Yes I did notice I seem to be in the minority here with Nikon:-) It's Cool. I actually like both.
Leanne - Thank you. The photo of Daniela with the green eyes produced my 1st international publication. It's being published by AVA in a book on Outdoor Portraits in July. :-)

Hey Gregg!
Make that FOUR Nikon photographers. I shoot with D1Xs.
And Alan - definitely make your next lens 70-200. I use that and the 50 the most.

Hi Tamalyn,
I love this forum so far. Everyone here is really cool and happy to contribute.
Oh, and I'm getting the 70-200vr as soon as possible. Hopefully my recent (like yesterday) price increase :-) will help me get it sooner.
