Ok, here's the scoop in a nutshell: had already paid pro photographer a $1k retainer under contract for my wedding on 2 Sep in Ft Lauderdale Miami. He's gone with no refund.
I've been learning as much as I can here so I can do certain parts of it myself but more heads are better than one.
If you are an amature/begginer/learning/medium/master and think you'd like to come to the wedding and do shots then I'll certainly pay you for your time but it won't be much.
Whatever pics you get, burn me a copy (shoot in RAW), have some drinks and food, pocket a couple of hundred $ and get some experience. my other posts in here show the model (my fiance).
I'm Australian Army currently here in the USA training US Army and Miami is our destination wedding. Everything was sweet till my guy left us holding an empty photo album. Anyway, email me if you're interested but only if you're serious. I could use some help.

corey, too kind. thanks very much for your ideas. we've tried to track him down but i hit brick walls at most turns. i'm an Australian Army Officer on exchange here (been here 2 years) getting American troops ready to go to Iraq etc. Because I'm not a citizen, I pretty much get pushed to the back of the line. That's cool. I accept that. I don't pay taxes here so I can sort of understand that mentality. I accepted the risk and I lost.
Maybe I could email you with any questions that I can't figure out myself? More than anything at the moment, information from professional photographers is priceless to me so I humbly thankyou.
