Hi Folks,

I'm just getting started in albums (see my other thread) and am struggling with fonts a little. I'd like to dress up my albums with some text here and there, but the fonts on my machine are really lame.

What fonts do you use for your albums? I'd imagine most of you use a few favorites.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Ginger
Lou,

It really depends on the couple and the design, but some of my favorites are Scriptina, Georgia, and AnnabelleJF.

Good luck on your album designs.

is there anything else but Futura..??? It just fits my style, I'm not into scripty/ornate fonts

I only use Star Trek fonts. Klingon is a big hit.

Actually fonts should tie directly into the design you are using - so for a Star-Trek themed wedding, a Star Trek font would be ideal - and for a grunge wedding, a grunge font would.

First pick the theme for the album - then browse fonts - but it's not easy. Using fonts artistically is a big part of both layout and Photoshop skills.

Scrolling through my Font Book, so I'll just type anything that jumps at me. Not sure how it will look without script font, or how some of these will look in albums, but I'll just list whatever.

* Albemarle
* Big Carlson
* Blackjack
* dearJoe four (I love this font! More manly than girly)
* Garton
* JaneAusten
* MA Sexy
* Papyrus
* Savoye LET
* Scriptina
* Windsong (which is what I used on my new logo)
* Worstveld Sling Extra (3 versions)
* Zapfino

These are all free fonts that I found, except for dearJoe, which you get a free trial and then pay just a little for the rights.

I love using myfonts.com. You can preview text of your choice in different fonts before purchasing. Sometimes I type in the couple's names in a few different fonts to see which one I like it in.

I tend to use script fonts in moderation, as more as an accent or title. For any other text, I use a simple san serif or roman font with a lot of letter-spacing to keep it readable and more simple and modern looking.

I like to make an effort to use fonts that aren't included on the system and that I don't easily recognize. It adds more value to your album design to use fonts that the typical client doesn't have. Also I look at magazine design a lot and design magazines to find type treatments that I like. You can then research what fonts were used with the "what's the font?" feature on myfonts.com.
