What do you all think of this vintage-tone? It's new to me... and im becoming obsessed with it. I can't do anything b&w anymore after discovering this. maybe its just a phase. i dont know. i havent been doing this long enough to know if i go through phases.

and these guys were not into the lovey shots at all. they are both art majors at poly, so i figured to go for undersaturated and overexposed. don't these look more like bandshots?

i guess i may be a bit out of control.... but i love it. hope that everybody enjoys. thanks much for looking.

You're not out of control! You should give exactly what your clients want and if they want that then go for it! Is the Vintage look from the Nitorix effect? I've used it a little bit. I really like the shot you had of the couple in the field. That's super sweet.

Awesome job dude! Keep it up!

PURRRDY!!!!! Great Job!

Very very nice... If this is from the Nitorix effect, which one? I love that effect.

AWESOME shots, brother! Many of them look straight out of a magazine. You obviously have a great relationship with your clients. You will go through phases with what you like in your photography. Not to get too deep, but look at Picasso's cubist period, or his blue period. Every artist goes through phases, because we get bored and we are always looking for the next great way to express our work. I am currently "addicted" to two of Kevin Kubota's Photoshop actions. And you may have noticed that many of the photographer's on this site are "addicted" to the filed negative borders and lomo effects of Nitorix. You are incredibly talented . . . show us more of your work!!

Regards,

Brian

Brian,

thanks for the love.... and for going deep. im learning a lot and growing a lot as a phtographer.
i guess that is it. i am always looking for better ways of displaying my images as artwork.

Cam,

Kevin Kubota (amazing photographer) has developed like a million (well, maybe not quite that many) awesome artistic Photoshop actions. My favorites are "Lord of the Rings" and "Black and White Secret Formula." You can download all of the actions, or get the CD with ALL of them for only $69 right here: http://kubotaworkshops.make-a-store.com/cg...01DP&type=store

Be sure to check out his portfolio here: http://www.kkphoto-design.com

Brian,

I checked out his portfolio and his actions page, but couldn't find any examples. Can you post some "before/after" shots with some of his effects that you like. I've heard Drew talk about them as well, but haven't been able to examples of them.

Thanks!

(this goes for anyone who uses them...)
Nathan Holritz
Wow, Cameron. Really inspiring work! Did you simply de-saturate on those first four or five images?

Greg,

....thanks man! its all about the canon 70-200 L series with image stabalizer. loving it! just got it in January and it has changed the way that i photograph sooo much. its amazing what $1700 can do sometimes...

Nikon Geek,

....may i call you Mr. Geek? well, Mr. Geek..... yeah i totally desaturate anywhere around 55-69ish and then crank the temp all the way up. it gives the sepia look but not all stinky brown. leaving all of the color but muted.... i call it vintage-tone. thanks for your time.

Kurt
Cam or anyone else that would like to jump in, please explain to me how one would go about adjusting the temperature in Photoshop as Cam has mentioned?

Thanks. smile.gif
Katherine
Hey Kurt...

The short cut keys are Ctrl+U. The long way is going to Image, adjustments, and go down to hue/saturation. And just move the desat button in the -50's like how Cam does it.

Again...awesome pics!

Happy shooting!

KK
Kurt
Hey Katherine,

That's for the tip on how to desaturate. Do you know how to then "crank the temp all the way up?" I understand the concept, I just don't know how to do it in PS.

Thanks,

Kurt
Katherine
Hey Kurt...

I did this shot in PS CS...did the desat and then cranked up the warming filter. It's under image/adjustments/photo filter. Cameron...please correct me if I'm wrong buddy!

Kurt
Katherine,

I love it. That looks so great. Thanks for PS help. Man I feel like I am learning so many new things everyday.

Thanks,

Kurt

Hey guys!
This is AWESOME!! Great pics everyone!
Kurt the color temp. thing is when your working with raw or you can just do what katherine said when your working with jpegs!

The effect is also really cool with the lomo effect on top!
Cameron Ingalls
its all about shooting in RAW. you can increase the tempurature just by sliding up the dial... it's a little more tedious because you adjust every image but im finding that it is sooo worth it, and it saves me a lot of times when i over/under expose.... you can turn mistakes into works of art.

Man... I need Photoshop CS now!!!

Uh...Gregg...is that a hint????? tongue.gif

Brian,

Do you have any examples of your work using any of these actions. He does not have any examples on his site.

Thanks,
