It's just a diopter. If you go this route (and it's a great way to go), I'd get a high-quality Canon or Nikon diopter. They should be about $80-$120 each. They're 2-element designs. The two elements are cemented together so it looks like just one lens.
Sadly, the cheaper ones don't work nearly as well.
